Goro unlockable or not?

Could be just in Story Mode, like with Skarlet. Doesn't mean all his playable features are on disk.

It still counts as on disc DLC then, because you're not downloading a completely new "file", so to speak, onto the game. You're pretty much downloading a moves list. Rain, Kenshi, etc. can be considered off disc DLC because that's brand new data being loaded onto the game.

Hmm, I see what you mean. Partially on disc then. Either way, I'm sure there are people who will rage like butthurt fanboys that it's on disc and not free to others than those who pre-order.

That's why I propose that NRS make Goro more of a microtransaction to avoid that potential backlash.

All DLC is microtransaction, so would you mind explaining what you mean by that?

Yeah, you're right in that regard, I'll repost what I said in the first page:

In EA Sports UFC, I wanted to play as Bruce Lee, but I didn't want to go through the conditions to unlock him, and I didn't have an Xbox One when the game released, so I couldn't have him as a pre-order bonus. Therefore I just paid for him.

I wouldn't be mad if NRS did something similar to that with Goro.

Ah, so you mean if he was unlockable, but also purchasable.
... Yeah, that would suck.

I mean, NRS have stressed about Goro being available for those wh pre-order. It would kinda suck if it wasn't so special to do so anyways. I'd definately prefer if Goro became purchasable DLC made available some time after release to those who did not pre-order.

Why would it suck?

In my opinion, I would see it as having three options. Pre-ordering would be the best option because you wouldn't have to fulfil the hard requirement to unlock Goro, and you won't have to pay for him. Therefore, the people who didn't pre-order have to either choose to pay or go through the trouble of trying to unlock him.

What's the advantage of the actual game as opposed to the digital one, did the booklet of MK9 have anything special inside of it like moves lists or character's bios?

Why do people assume he is on the disc? They most likely put him out as DLC.

His model is in the game, according to mandead.
To clarify:

- We've seen at least one in-game screenshot of him;
- We've seen a screenshot of his statue on one of the towers (meaning he's available to fight as an opponent);
- We've seen his portrait on the roster screen in various dev builds;

He's also probably in story mode, and his DLC content is only 9MB. He is definitely on-disc.

Yeah that 9 MB is a dead giveaway in my book. If it was a new model and everything, I'd assume it would be in the triple digits in terms of MB's.

It would suck, because then pre-ordering wouldn't be as special as NRS tried to make it out to be. Why pre-order to get Goro when everyone can play as him anyways? Sure, they would have to unlock him first, but he's still available. The exclusivity of pre-ordering to get him disappears.

I don't see that as a big deal considering the conditions required to unlock something that you get for free by pre-ordering are pretty tough. That's why I didn't unlock Bruce Lee in EA Sports UFC, it would take me a long ass time, even at this point I'm not even sure I could fulfil the requirements. That's why I just bought him.

I'd agree with you if the conditions for unlocking Goro was "Beat Story Mode on Easy".

But we don't know if the conditions would be tough. Story Mode unlock or expensive Krypt unlock are both very easy and doable. And from what we know, there's no "top" to the Living Towers like there was in MK9's Challenge Tower (unless I've misunderstood something), so it couldn't be a reward unlock in that either.

Of course, that's why I'm proposing a standard system such as the one I mentioned for on-disc pre-order DLC. The requirement to unlock in the game should be relatively tough, and if you pre-order you get the unlockable DLC for free, if you don't, you either complete the tough requirement or pay.

I pre-ordered so I couldn't care less, but I'm just putting that system out there for people who didn't pre-order and want a shot at unlocking something, while at the same time making pre-ordering worthwhile.

If NRS considers it, cool, if not, oh well.

I think he's fully on disc, not just his model. Even if he's only available day one for those who pre-order, it still means day one people will need to have all his data, including models, moves and stuff, to fight against Goro online. It would really suck for people who pre-ordered if they could only use Goro against other people who have Goro as well, and the only other way would be to have a mandatory compatibility pack like for other DLCs, but since it needs to be available day one, it just makes more sense to have him on disc.
