Players control one of six camp counselors (each with varying levels of speed and jumping ability) in a side-scrolling perspective. The counselors start with an arcing rock attack. The goal is to find and defeat Jason three times. Along the paths, players will find cabins, a lake, caves and wooded areas with all but the cabins having enemies such as zombies, crows, and wolves attacking the player. Players may upgrade their weapon upon finding a new one. A timed alarm appears at certain intervals, requiring players to find Jason before he kills one or more children or another counselor. Using the map, players must navigate their way to Jason's location or switch to the counselor being attacked and defeat him. If they do not make it there in time, Jason will kill the counselors or some of the children.

Upon nearing Jason's location, Jason may appear on the path or in the lake and attack the player. When inside a cabin Jason will attack the player in a way reminiscent of the video game Punch-Out!!. Players may light the fireplaces inside of larger cabins. Upon lighting all fireplaces, a flashlight and torch weapon are available. Notes are found in some larger cabins leading you to other notes in other locations, eventually leading you to new items. The objective of the game is to survive for three days and three nights while attempting to find and kill Jason. Players may battle Jason's mother who is in a hidden locked room in the cave. She is is represented as a Medusa-like floating head that swoops down to attack the player. Navigating in the woods or cave can be confusing as they are set up to purposely disorient the player. They hide several locked rooms/cabins. If all counselors or children die, the game is over.

This game was ****ing hard and you do all that work for the shittiest ending ever.

This game was ridiculously hard. I never beat it when I was younger, but I eventually did when I was 17-18ish. That music will forever be burnt into my consciousness. Those caves were so creepy to enter!

Scared the shit out of me when investigating a house and he appeared. I think I may have cried a few times.

For those who never experienced it....you get some calmish music and then LOUD music when he appears. You never know what room he will appear in. Goddamn shit got me EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I loved this game when i was in 7th grade, scared crap outta me. 1 of the first survival horror games and great atmosphere (for the time to a 13 y o) then later when i was a junior in h.s. i went back and was determined to beat it. I made sure all my char had knives, and saved the fastest counselors for last. quickly after i defeated jason 1 time the pitchfork appeared and it was pretty ez after that, it took of 1/4th of his health. i beat him a second time and heard after 3x you get the ending, and was seriously let down..anyway great cool game that was budget priced (think i got mine for 39.99 at kay bees) good memories

Wow.

Now I know why this board has people who defend MKAK....some of you just have bad taste in games.

I remember renting this game when it came out. I was like, "What in the world is this piece of crap?"

Everyone knew this game was terrible the day it came out. I didn't know anybody liked it. What's next, a thread of people saying how much they loved Superman 64? At this point, I wouldn't be surprised.

Even freaking Nintendo Power magazine ranked this turkey the 6th worst video game ever made. Seriously, guys, this game doesn't even have a cult following. I can't imagine why anybody would like it. It was even considered awful for its time.

I'm not trying to troll, I'm just amazed to see so many people say they enjoyed a game that was pretty much universally panned. Okay, go back to driving your Yugos and watching Ishtar!
