For those complaining about this game being a re-hash

This is for all the people begging for a plethora of new characters.

This could go either way but, what if NRS gave you a huge number of fresh faces and literally all of them were just as lackluster as the previous post-MK3 characters? What would you say then? You would have gotten your wish but it would not have been worth it. Scorpion sells Mortal Kombat. Sub-Zero sells Mortal Kombat. Raiden sells Mortal Kombat. Kitana sells Mortal Kombat. Darrius, Dairou, Hsu Hao, Meat, Moloch, Kobra, Kira, and others...do not.

A few bad waves of sh** characters is not an excuse to stop trying. Rehashing the same crap over and over again is dull and will not last very long. The die hard purists will be satisfied, but everyone else will get tired and bored.

Even if the new faces in MKX suck, at least NRS did something different. I hated the 3D era games not because the majority of new characters were garbage, but the games themselves were imo.

They have 4 new characters right now, and more to come. They changed the whole game from MK9. This is far from a re-hash, even if the entire roster was the same as MK9

I'm not accusing MKX of being a rehash. I was responding to the point reikoiskahn was trying to make.

Look what happened to SF3 because of only FOUR returning characters...and the original plan was ZERO returning characters.

Enough said! How fans STILL think the SF3 route is an acceptable roster is beyond my comprehension.

Why do you keep using SF3 as an example? The game was released in 1997 and I still can't find anything on this legendary backlash it received.

To explain in plain English that returning characters are what sells.

One single example does not prove your little point. Especially when I have yet to see any evidence of SF3's blacklash. Not saying it never happened, I just want some information on it.

If NRS took a chance, how is it any worse than NRS not taking a chance and also risking the franchise going stale?
Fixed.
Don't get it twisted.
Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden and Liu Kang are the only 4 characters needed to sell MK games.
The fan outrage from MK3 and Deadly Alliance are all the proof that's needed.
Not nearly as many people would outrage if Kitana was missing from 1 game than if 1 of the 4 that I mentioned was missing.
THAT'S the difference.
Also, good job on mentioning all the shitty characters from the MK4 thru MKA era.
While shitty characters like Darrius, Dairou, Hsu Hao, Meat, Moloch, Kobra and Kira don't help sell games, characters like Fujin, Quan Chi, Tanya, Reiko (you know, the dude in your avatar), Havik and Kenshi sure as hell would, as those are the post-MK3 characters that people most commonly request.

I obviously mentioned them because they were the ones that sucked most to me. If you've seen my previous posts (which I'm sure you have, considering the fact that we've conversed before), you know that I enjoy Reiko, Tanya, and Quan Chi, in addition to saying I see Kenshi and Fujin making it into this game so you should check your facts first, sir.

I have seen you previous posts, but I was specifically referring to your last post in which you said that those shitty characters won't do as well.
Well, no shit.
You mentioned the worst of the worst from that era, but that doesn't mean that ALL post-MK3 characters wouldn't do well in MKX or that all new characters would be as terrible as the post-MK3 shitty characters that you mentioned in your last post.
That's my point.

Ferra / Torr, Kotal Kahn, D'Vorah and Cassie Cage have all been met with good praise, so there's a good chance that most of the other new characters could also do well.

But the problem with that is the fact that they are not new anymore. Once they've been in a game, they aren't new. Ferra/Torr, D'vorah, and Cassie are all making their debut in MKX. Characters post-MK3 (Reiko included) are not new. They are just characters that weren't well received and left fans feeling as if they were rushed creations. Unfortunately, most of them still leave a bad taste in most fans' mouth. I'm going to try and see where you're coming from, though, Commander: why don't you tell me which characters from the later games you specifically want to see and how you figure they can be redeemed in a story or design? Again, I'm going to try and see where you're coming from but the characters I mentioned, in addition to Li Mei, Bo Rai Cho, and Drahmin, are always going to be awful in my eyes unless someone comes up with something truly interesting for them. Their current backgrounds, however, just don't allow for that. It is just cookie cutter bullshit with them.

The only 6 post-MK3 characters I gave a crap for were Quan Chi, Fujin, Reiko, Tanya, Havik and Kenshi.

Quan Chi - has a seemingly huge role in MKX and looks badass with all 3 variations.

Fujin - has a huge chance of taking up the role that Raiden used to have, given that Raiden has gone a bit whacko.
Plus, 3 Wind God variations would be badass to see.
The last time we got a good Fujin was MK4.

Reiko - is part of the army of the Brotherhood Of Shadow, and could have a huge role in the NetherRealm wars.
A revamp of his MK4 move-list with 3 variations would also be awesome.

Tanya - given her relationship to Quan Chi, has a good chance of being in.
She had some original moves in MK4, including her neck twist move.

Havik - if Noob Saibot's MK9 ending has any semi-canon to it and Bi-Han separates from the wraith, the wraith could find another body.
Havik could help Saibot to gain control of the NetherRealm, with his Chaos Army, during the NetherRealm war.

Kenshi - According to the comics and digital series calls sheet, could end up joining the Special Forces, plus he's Boon's 2nd favorite, so I don't see him NOT making it. lol

So if someone doesn't like them so we should never see them again? Got it.

Can we please remove Kano, Sonya, Sheeva, Kintaro, Stryker, Smoke, Rain, Jax, Jade, Nightwolf and Sindel from ever appearing in a MK again? Those character's backgrounds are pretty bland. Hell, Kano was so boring they stole the worst character in MK's background just to make him interesting.

I'd take Li Mei, Mavado, Bo Rai Cho, Reiko, Tanya, Ashrah, Fujin, Shujinko, Shinnok, Taven, Moloch, Drahmin, Havik or Frost over any of those characters.

If it werent for Deception, people would think Nightwolf, Sindel, Kabal, Tanya were all "rushed" and "not well received" as well and dont even try to tell me they were popular. If it werent for Deception we would be saying the same thing about them by the time MK9 came around

Kabal was pretty damn popular in MK3, especially after word got around about how broken he was.

I actually want characters like Jade back. She is a great character and deserves to come back to life.
As a Mortal Kombat fan, I am satisfied with how MKX is turning out. Sure, add some post UMK3 characters in the mix but I hope they keep some from MK1-UMK3 in the roster still. People know who they are and they want their favorite character in the game.

I think that of Nightwolf and Kabal anyway.
