For those complaining about this game being a re-hash

I feel this needs its own thread, since this seems to be an on-going debate.

Returning Characters
For those complaining about there being too many returning characters, there are still plenty of roster space left, and if NRS are going to reveal characters, they would reveal returning characters over new characters because of familiarity with the public.

NRS Not Taking Risks
I am sorry by NRS have taken HUGE risks with this game... They changed the gameplay, character design and character move-sets drastically, to the point where it is completely distinctive from MK9.

MK9.5 or MK Gold 2
Like I said previously, the game is completely different from any other MK game I have seen. Look at other fighting game franchises out there, and look at how each installment is almost identical to the last... I think people need appreciate how innovative this MK game is.

Reton
I believe story mode is just a gimmick, and should not take priority. But I respect that some people take story mode more seriously than I do.
However MK is a fantasy and unrealistic game.. A game where characters survive multiple stabs in the skull or chest, a game where weapons come out of no where, a game where zombies exist and so on... Resurrection is hardly that much of a retcon.

you CLEARLY don't get it.

When people are calling this MK9.5, MKGold, or MKDA.5, it's because of the roster.
Sure the gameplay has changed, but why can't the roster change with it?

Why would I want to pay hundreds of dollars, just to play as the MK9 characters?
(MKX + Ps4 = 100's of dollars) yeah, i'm not doing that just to play as updated MK9 characters.

They should have never tried whipping the slate clean if they couldn't commit.
This is on the same level as killing Shao Kahn in DA, just to bring him back in Deception. They need to stop killing characters for the shock value, and actually take the time and think about the characters they are killing off, and if they truly want to let go of that character for a game or two.

Why am I going to care if ANYBODY dies in MKX?

If Kano dies, he could come back,
If Kitana dies, she could come back,
If D'vorah dies, she could come back,
If ANYBODY DIES THEY CAN COME BACK!

What the hell is the point?

Because the gameplay is COMPLETELY different, that is why you would pay that much money. Why not buy a brand new fighting game if you dont want returning MK9 characters?

We have 4 new characters right now, and we will have more to come. They are simply revealing familiar characters first, and rightly so. I would want to see trailer of characters I know to understand how their move sets have changed.

I hate Kitana's "new look"

She still looks just as slutty to me...Whats with all the praise?
Seems to me like the biggest difference was breast reduction surgery.

I can't wait to see how manly that face is. You all know it's gonna be ugly as hell.

If you don't like the final roster, DON'T GET THE GAME. Yes, it's that easy.

And that's unfortunately going to be the case for me.
I WILL NOT buy a PS4 with MKX just to play an updated MK9.

I also find it HILARIOUS that you think you can tell people to chill out, or say commander is in denial and shit.

Have you looked at the shit you've wrote in the Sub-Zero thread? Yeah, we don't call you "Trolling Roaster" for nothing...

If this is addressed at me in any way, you completely missed my point. I agree with everything you said (except the part about NRS taking risks). How are they taking risks, exactly, besides potentially pissing off their horny teenage boy demographic by de-whoring the female outfits? The new animations, beautiful stages, updated costumes and next-gen tech aren't risks. The flashy new variation system is not a risk. The new characters aren't a risk; NRS did new characters for MK 1-7. What WOULD be a risk is to take unloved characters and try to make them work; I haven't seen that happen yet. This is a very safe roster, for a very safe game.

It was not addressed at you lol.

Also these are huge risks. The Variation system could completely mess up the balance of the game.. The new drastically changed gameplay elements could either prove to be better or worse than MK9. The fundamentals have changed, i.e. dashing changed into running. These things are RISKS. Intractables could prove to be a nuisance in the long run.

Lord Greyjoy Exactly

If this game was taking risks, they would have committed to wiping the slate clean.

I don't understand why you would put "new look" in quotation marks. It is a new look. She's never had that look before. She's even wearing pants! She has pieces of armour on! And the only time she had more clothes on was in MKDA, and only because her thighs and chest were covered in stockings.

It's alright that you don't like it, but you are wrong about the things you accuse her for.

And that's unfortunately going to be the case for me.

An updated MK9? Are you serious?

Look at the latest Street Fighter game, look at Tekken 7... Your comment would hold weight for those 2 games, but MKX being an updated MK9? Really?

How are interactibles in MKX a risk?
They were first in MK4 and later appeared in Injustice, and both of those games did well.

If this game was taking risks, they would have committed to wiping the slate clean.

Exactly.
This just shows that NRS didn't have the gall to keep the dead characters dead and try something new, and take a risk.
NRS revealing MK9 characters for MKX isn't taking a risk.

I have never cared if someone died in MK. I care about the gameplay... Story mode is a cool feature, but if I wanted to watch a movie, I would watch a movie 10 times better than any fighting game story ever produced.

Yeah, the same blue shit with tons of skin showing is a "new look". SMH..
The only difference I notice is smaller boobs, and more accessories. (like the gold shit around her neck).

And she's wearing pants? I can still she her ass cheeks.

It's okay if you like it, but you're wrong about the things you praise her for.

Well guess what, most of the people here play MK for the story.

You don't are about story mode? No wonder you're pushing the idea of Kitana! You don't give a shit about the story.

No sense arguing with somebody who doesn't even care about the overall story of the game.

EXACTLY!
The only risk they have taken is the shitty marketing campaign they've tried for the past few months.
And look how that turned out...

Not really. That would mean I am praising her for covering up, which I'm not. I am praising her for the kunoichi influence in her design, and THAT I am not wrong about.

What I was doing in with my response to you above was to tell you how it was new by telling you the differences and new additions there are to her outfit this time around that has never appeared in any of her past appearances.

If you want to ignore it and pretend it's the same, then you go and do that. It just makes you less reliable, because you choose to ignore the facts.

I have huge issues with the decisions with the game so far. It's not just about the story, which is, and has always been, a significant part of the series (it's fine that it's a fighting game, but it's not marketed as just a fighting game. This series has had several movies, a comic series, TV shows, etc.)

A few of my issues:

- A significant portion of the roster appears to be made up of MK 9 characters. Normally, I'd be OK with this, especially given that I'm a fan of the series, and a lot of the MK 9 characters are the most popular, however, we were promised differently, and therefore, hardcore fans got their hopes up. If the MK X roster was huge, I'd be okay with characters returning from the dead in this game, but given that, according to speculation, more than half the cast is from MK 9, it's very disappointing. The characters are very well-designed, I know, but can you imagine how they could've re-designed post-MK 3 characters instead?
- The characters returning from MK 9 are the same characters that always get attention. No one is ever going to appreciate or take characters like Rain, Baraka, Scarlet seriously if they always get ignored. Having a large portion of the roster dead could have given some underdeveloped characters some well-deserved spotlight and made the game refreshing.
- Netherealm war has passed - Does anyone else feel this is a huge missed opportunity? This also leaves me worried for characters like Tanya, Reiko, Shinnok, who are already fighting for a spot in a quickly filling roster.
- Post MK 3 characters continue to get ignored - I get that NRS regret a lot of the characters, and have now used the comic books as a way to correct their mistakes, but a lot of these characters have fans, and could have many more fans with an MK X re-design. It's just speculation for the most part, but given the trend lately, it's frustrating to see realms will continue to be ignored, and amazing characters, such as Hotaru and Havik, will likely be a random comic book casualty.

I never said I do not play it for the story, but the story is a small factor, once you have completed it and speculated on the forums, it becomes yesterdays news until 4 years later with the next installment. If you solely play for the story, then you're wasting your money, simple as that.
