Ermac Thread - "We are Many, You are but One!"

My thoughts.

Been playin mk since mk1 was in the arcades, and when UMK3 came along, Ermac consumed me ! I was good, but the experts kicked my @$$. The only cahnce I would have against them is Ermac. He had and still has some of the sickest combos in mk hands down. I really haven't liked or played as him since MK3, but he seems to be back to what I originally loved. I found myself doing some MK3 combos on him.

I was soo busy unlocking crap and maining Cyber Sub-Zero for the last month that I totally overlooked him. There were soo many characters to choose from. I started playing as him in practice mode for the last 5 days and I'm blown away with the versatility of this character. With Ermac, the possibilities seem endless as far as combos etc.

I heard someone say Ermac got nerfed and that you can't do a Force Port to Force Lift combo anymore. Is this after an update cuz I can do it fine ??? This is a combo i did in MK3 and now. It's awesome ! I'm not even all that good but I can pull off like an 8 hit with him without my opponent hitting the ground lol !

I'm not gonna add my combo perspective cuz I think you guys have done a great job here. Thanks alot to everyone in here that contributed to this thread.

Lastly, not sure if this is even known, but I discovered the craziest thing about him in practice.

You know how Force port is DB+4. Well in the middle of a combo you can use DB+1 to do a Force port instead. I found that it only works during a combo and no other time.

Example: JK, Force Port, Force Lift, JK, Force Port, Force Lift.

Am I crazy ? Has anyone else seen this ?
 
By the way, the last Force Lift slams them to the ground so fast that I haven't been able to get an extra hit after the last Force Lift, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. I just need more practice. Maybe a fireball can go after that ???
 
What about Ermac matchups?

What i will do is a section explaining how to play with Ermac and the general startehy but no matchup, is too much work and i dont see the point. If you play enough with a character and learn his advantages, you will learn the other guys weaknesses.
 
In one of the very few non-laggy games I had today, I landed the biggest damage combo for Ermac I've tried so far. It was 62%.

Psychic Strikes (Fully charged B2 + B1), Force Lift, JK, Force Port, 2, 2, X-Ray

I think it differs from 61%-62% depending on how long you charge the B2. That being said I probably will never land it ever again!!

So I posted a basic Ermac strategy that's very effective a long time ago and it never got put into the post in any way, shape or form, what gives? At least put "Notorious J.I.Z.'s basic Ermac strategy" or something? I don't now, it's an extremely effective and simple way to play him and I don't just mean against scrubs, I've bested some TRMK members (which are MUCH better than fricken scrubs) w/ it...

EDIT: Btw, anti-block/turtle basic strategy: Don't play their game, stay about mid screen and keep poking with your safe force pushes, this chips and gives you meter, they'll come after you, so don't worry about it. All you have to do is respect a teleport and block that bs, purposely whiffing a standing 1 can get them to react on motion and allow you to block and punish w/ a full combo.

actually you don't want to fully charge the b2 it actually makes the damage less then not charging at all and too bad this combo got hit by the nerf bus it used to do 65% if you found the sweet spot when charging b2
 
It's funny because I usually don't charge it fully. Must of found the sweet spot then. It was basically the second Tyler combo he did in his Ermac video without the JP. I actually think the JP makes it do less damage now. It does suck they nerfed it, but 50-60%+ combos still make me very happy. haha

The nerf will be in the patch and its his overall damage of specials I believe. Tbh, 11% on force push really is kinda ridiculous haha

Love this one. Hit it yesterday without the JP on some d-bag. I've been trying hard matching "We Win" and "Lost Souls" into X-Rays lately. Really fun stuff.
 
guys i have another 36-44%(depending on the charge) combo it goes

b21f2(you can charge the b2 for a littlebit)forceport forcelift dash 22 forcepush

OK a little tip for these charging B2 combos if you go into practice and it does 9% damage you've found the sweat spot if you allow it to get to 11% it hurts the damage scaling on the following combo big time as an example that 62% combo someone posted drops to 48% if you overcharge ironically it does 52% if you don't charge at all

does it break block not-fully-charged? Would make sense.

fully-charged = unblockable -> less dmg
