Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon sat down with Giant Bomb's Jeff Gerstmann to talk about what's being shown at E3 for Mortal Kombat X. The two <a go into details about the game's "gore tech", the timeframe of the storyline (starts right after MK9 and moves 25 years into the future), the number of characters they're shooting for and who they're considering, character variations, background interactables, etc. Ed does reveal that the persistent online mode is a meta game that they expect players to want to check in and see how they are doing in the game. It is a great interview to watch.

I think Ed let Sonya and Johnny Cage out of the bag, as far as being in MK X.

(Regarding fatalities) "Oh, shit. We've never had relatives."

I watched this yesterday so forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't Boon say the MKX's story does indeed continue MK9's story but doesn't start immediately after MK9?
