do the backgrounds suck?

Lol they aren't going to change the music.
WHOEVER is over at NRS designing the music, they have a fetish for movie soundtracks.

Whatever happened to fast paced tracks like this? That offered a sense of suspense and had a unique sound?

The rain in the background, the eerie guitar, the occasional scream of "Alright!". That is what modern MK music should sound like imo.

Fantastic music just fantastic music, you see even despite this being fast paced and guitar heavy u can still hear the classic Dan Forden moody harmonizing style which was missing in MK9 and seems to be missing in MKX

He's asking which ones.
Like do you think Deception's Slaughterhouse is coming back?

Lol, nevermind, I read 'what' as 'which'

Every single Mortal Kombat has had stage fatalities.
Why would they stop now?

I am hoping to see a stage with water at the fighters' feet. For example, this stage from MKvsDCU

I'm sure they can make the water turn red from blood as the battle progresses, which I think would be great! Hopefully, it can be a "New Edenia" 25 years into the future. Here are some pictures of what the background could look like.

I like. . . No, LOVE the way you think!

completely agree. This is the sound i wanted for MKX, But i guess that isnt gonna happen.

Outworld Marketplace looks like it belongs in a Street Fighter game
Exactly what I said some posts ago.
Reminds me of Chun Li's stage from SF2.
People in the background paying no attention to the fight is totally anticlimactic to me.

But it makes sense lol. They don't give a shit because they live in Outworld, the most god forsaken brutal realm in Mortal Kombat.
"Don't apply real world logic to a video game" but it makes sense in the game's mythos.

I see where you're coming from... but MK isn't just run of the mill people like they're probably used to seeing; it's the big dogs, like Gods and stuff. Pretty sure a fight of that calibre would attract more than a little attention.

I don't really care, though. I like the stage.

Mortal Kombat music is so-so. It's too simplistic for me to even remember the tracks, but it used to be better in the classics IMO mainly due to the nostalgia factor. You can't really compare it to Street Fighter series for example. THAT IS A FANTASTIC SOUNDTRACK. Yes, I know Mortal Kombat style is more basic, so I don't really expect much really. However, the Mortal Kombat movie theme is too awesome and I would love to have it back!

As for the stages... I simply love Mortal Kombat stages overall. Really, all three shown so far are unique and great, I didn't find them generic at all. Outworld's Market Place does remind me of Street Fighter (and that is a flaww because...? Street Fighter stages are good!), but it also feels it belongs there.

I think that's a little too ambitious. To have the crowd react differently for individual fighters?

That is ambitious, but pretty much every fighter playable in MK is above the level of street thugs, footsoldiers and basic military men. Case in point, Jax managed to take most of the Black Dragon (On his own?) and he's not even that strong compared to the others.

I think there should be a little more attention. I mean, put this into context: seeing two people fighting in a shitty part of town, it's like "Whatever" but if you see two martial arts masters going at it, it's bound to turn more than a few heads. Know what I mean? I mean, there should at least be some fascination there. Everybody seems a bit too dismissive of it.

Maybe they have a "head high, don't ask, don't talk" attitude or something, I don't know what's happened after the events of MK9; I'm not going to judge when I don't know shit.

So I think unique reactions are unnecessary. Still, I like the stage, regardless.

im actually shocked that people are defending that market stage. its a boring design that makes outworld look just like any normal place in earth realm. outworld has always had a unique presence about it that makes it stand apart from earth realm even in daylight past stages have had warm colors while still having that other worldly presence of outworld.

im not getting that presence at all with the market stage in fact if it wasnt called 'outworld market' you wouldnt even know it was in outworld :( (besides the tiger), very plain and boring, the peoples clothing is even plain and boring and the people look bored out their minds. even the tiger thing is yawning and falling asleep coz the stage is that boring.

sorry for wanting better but i believe once a bar is set one should always aim higher and that market stage is like 10 steps backwards.
