He was still reigning Champion of Mortal Kombat when he died, in MK9.
I do agree that Raiden will likely continue to play a major role in the MKX story, though.

I never said 'Playable'. Motaro had lines in MK9. He wasn't playable. Same with the Elder Gods. They'd be listed on imdb as well. This, by the way, was my point to begin with. A cast list on imdb (true or not) has nothing to do with the roster of characters in a fighting game.

That was my point too.
I could see lots of the dead characters making cameos, but I don't see lots of the dead characters being playable.
I could maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe see 1 or 2 of the dead being DLC, but that's about it, IMO.

The very purpose of a false IMDb list is to appear plausible. While sometimes they have some new facts hidden in them, usually I'd just take the IMDb leaks with a grain of salt.
