That is entirely NOT true. God of War is an action-platformer focusing far more on puzzles and platforming than combat (although that doesn't mean there isn't alot of combat, there is). the DMC series focuses far more on the intricacies of battle and utilizes a massively complex combo system and ranks your performance based on how well you complete an individual level. In many ways DMC is MUCH more difficult. But it requires a different kind of thought process to play DMC vs. God of War.
Rant aside, I just don't think it's an adequate comparison. I like them both very much.
