Is it just me or is that Eliot BnB that you learn in command training getting old? It's so easy, and people think they are good for pulling off. Basically just mashing P+K and you can get it. I've seen quite a few Eliot players that they just try to do that over and over and I hold it every single time. Then they wake up kick and I hold that every time. It seems like everyone plays the same way with this game.
Give it a couple weeks and the crowd will thin, the real players will stay. The button mashers will be back to playing the newest game released. You must not be finding good competition.
It's in the 360 version, I always have it turned off. If I want to play against someone, I will go in the online mode.
Played with THE JOHNNY ROOK today, good games, though I lost most of them. Still working on getting better. I picked up Brad Wong, and I'm starting to do decently with him. He really confuses people.
EDIT: I don't normally get mad at games, but F%&%&% RAGGGEEEE!!! This guy would get me on the floor with Tina and just kept doing the ground grab. I started mashing buttons and doing everything I could, but he could always grab me before I could get up. He would do it like 3-4 times in a row. What the shit is this????

Yessir, I never rage more when I have a competitive mindset. It is only against random people online though.
DOA4 made me dropkick my nice ottoman 6 years ago. I was Tina and could not for the life of me beat Alpha. I eventually did, but in the end, my ottoman was still broken from being dropkicked.
I should be online tonight late.
Alpha wasn't a very fun boss character to begin with. But I may or may not be on, we'll see. I think we should play more often though.

When accepting a challenge during the final stage of arcade mode, then returning to offline play after the match, the final stage no longer repeats without a mode clear, nor does the game freeze.
Your opponent’s cursor is no longer displayed in the menu after a rank match, simple match, or challenge match.
Your opponent’s connection speed is now displayed on the character select menu next to their account name. 5 good ⇔ 1 bad
During a match, your opponent’s connection speed is now displayed next their opponent name.

Lobby match search results now are sorted in order of connection speed.
During an online match, input delay and laggy character movement due your connection with the opponent is less likely to occur. (Still may occur depending on the connection status between players)

Mila's :2:: only connects twice then causes quick recovery. Infinite Fixed.
Tina's :2::H+P: changed from +5 to ±0 and doesn't link together while opponent is grounded. Infinite Fixed.
Ayane's :6::6::K::K::4: is now +1
Not Patched Game Changes
Story mode has all of its information and tips reference the default control style regardless of the player's controller layout.
The player can set a function to only one button making it impossible to set, for example, Hold to two buttons.
Not Patched Character Changes
Jann Lee's :6::H+K: doesn't break critical state at the end of critical threshold, and :9::K: after :6::H+K: initiates critical stun does not count towards critical stun damage
