MKX isn't exactly setting the world on fire right now. #66 in PS4 Video Games on Amazon, #960 in Video Games in general while it's not even in the top 40 on Vgchartz. Seriously, it's starting to look like the 3d era all over again. This game has been available for pre-order since June, it's almost October now.

I think this is why they announced Goro as DLC exclusive and announced the release date so early, the pre-orders are in a slump but I'm afraid the problem is worse and more far fetching- most casual gamers don't care about MK like they did 3 years ago, NRS shouldn't have drug there feet for so long on MK9's sequel while making another flop for DC.

FYI, Injustice to this date has only sold 930,000 copies compared to MK9's 6,000,000. NRS could not afford another failure.

I'll be worried if the numbers lag after they announce any Special Editions.

I, and I'm assuming there's a hell of a lot others like me, have not preordered because a Kollector's Edition hasn't been announced as of yet. Also I want to see if there are Store Exclusives.

Yup.
I'm in the same boat.
If Best Buy, Amazon or 1 of the other retailers have an edition that I like better, I might go with them.
If I don't have to pre-order with GameStop, I'd rather not.

I agree with Taj Gill.

These pre-order sales figures are terrible to go off of, THIS early in the cycle.
There are still 7 months until the game comes out, and the pre-order numbers could rise by a lot by the time it gets closer to the release date.

It's Mortal Kombat, this game will sell just from the name alone! No need to be all worried

Lol, unfortunately it isn't the 90's anymore Bro. NRS had to give 150% to make sure MK9 was hugely successful.

To most people, MK is childhood nostalgia that stays nostalgic, not an interest to be seriously revived again.

True, I hear what you're saying, but im sure with the next gen tech, gameply from what we've seen, im sure the story will be awesome and from what you just said, "childhood nostalgic" I have faith that this game will be well received even better than MK9. Just my opinion!

It's too early, the pre-orders will boost up once they start marketing the game later on. MK9 did great and made MK mainstream again (Not as big as it was in the mid 90's though). I think the game will do fine seeing how well MK9 turn out. MK9 brought back older fans who haven't played MK since MK3 or MKDA, give us newer fans to a new generation.

I agree with this.
I mean, MKX was trending on Twitter, just a few weeks ago, as well as when the announcement for it came out.
For something to trend on Twitter, it needs to get a shitload of hashtag tweets and mentions.

I've see more people that are excited for this than MK9 on GameSpot, IGN, Gametrailers and other non-MK gaming sites than there were for MK9, even a few on said sites who are looking forward to this on PS4 and X1 and didn't know that MK9 was on last-gen.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why we need an MK game every two years!

I know that this is probably troll bait, but what the hell....

MK is 1 of the most popular game IPs out there, and it's been around for 22 years.
Everyone in the gaming world knows what you're talking about, just with the mere mention of Mortal Kombat.
Even the Teen rated MKvsDC sold sold over 1.9 million units, which made it one of Midway's most successful titles, ever since 2002 (Deadly Alliance).
I'm not worried about MKX not selling well.

I rather have a new MK game once every four years then two years. At least it gives NRS more time to give us a good game. With Midway, they were force to rush out the games around the Holiday season. I do think WB needs to hire another company to make spin off games during the four year wait. We can have a action adventure game once every two years before the next game comes out.

But the sales are more likely to stagnate after 4 years than they are after 2 years. It's not rocket science.

A new car also loses value as soon as you drive it off the lot.

The point is that we don't want MK to get too over-saturated, much like Assassin's Creed is.
I lost interest in that series after part 2...... or maybe it was it Brotherhood (6 months later)........ or maybe it was Revalations (6 months after that).
I dunno.
The point is that I lost interest in the Assassin's Creed series because I didn't bother to catch up with the releases being too frequent between 1 game and another, as would casuals with the MK fighting series, if it gets burned out too quickly.

MK got too over-saturated in the late 90's when we had three versions of MK3 (MK3, UMK3 and MKT), a Mortal Kombat movie, a direct to video animated film and a Saturday morning cartoon release between 1995 and 1996. There was so much MK stuff that most retail places have no idea what to do with most MK merchandise. I'm pretty sure that's what cause of the downfall of the series after 1997 when we went five years without a proper new game.

Less isn't more, MORE is more.

I don't see why they haven't done that already.

Like a Shaolin Monks style game with Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

When asked on Twitter about a Mythologies: Scorpion game, Boon replied with a simple smiley face.
So who knows, maybe that's scheduled next.

I remember months ago on Twitter that he said that he wants to do another Shaolin Monks game, but he said it's complicated right now. I guess they don't have the time to do another Action Adventure game.
