I am kinda torn on this. The casual MK player in me thinks you can't let the majority of the player base miss out on an item just to cater to the small percentage of hardcore MK elitists. (I know it's more than just like 1 or 2 people so I use small in context) But, the completionist in me says having to work for something is never a bad thing and does give you a sense of accomplishing something even if it takes god knows how many tries. I understand both sides of the argument. I am by no means an elite player and still play only for fun and not to be a great player.
One way that could work and soften the blow for hardcore MK players is still have the Koins option to "buy" the challenge but make it only appear after a set number of tries and have an alternate prize for Koin users. I am just throwing a number out here but let's say 100 tries. After that many tries the option appears on the challenge screen and asks if you wan't to use it. If the player accepts they are awarded with an alternate prize but the game tells the player to keep trying for the ultimate prize. If you beat the challenge without Koins then you get both the alternate and ultimate prize.
