Best Zoner, Rushdown etc.

Reptile for rush down

He closes distance faster than anyone and his 1221 combo has overheads and its so long you can judge if you should cancel to slide, acid hand, or ball depending on what the opponent is blocking. His toward2 back1 also catches downed opponents off guard a lot.
 
Maybe not the best but a lot of people ignores that Sub-Zero is an excellent rushdown character.
 
Best zoner : Noob, Reptile, Sindel, Ermac
Best Rusher : Johnny Cage and Liu Kang
Best anti-zoner : Raiden
Best anti-rush : Kung Lao
 
Best Zoner = Noob
Best Rusher = JC

and they are respectively Worst Zoner and Worst Rusher

Best Anti Rush = Kratos (his parry gives him a combo, a BIG combo).
CSZ for Xbox users

Best Anti Zoner = Smoke ( he can be zoned only by Kenshi) and Raiden (I don't think someone can actually even think to zone him)

He probably did though Sub-Zero isn't a bad anti-zoner either. Putting Ice Balls onto the screen first to control space rather than trying to time out a trade will often hurt zoners who try to sneak projectiles in before Sub-Zero's Ice Ball can get out. It's really hard to sneak a projectile in on Sub-Zero on reaction when he's taking the initiative and controlling space with his Ice Balls rather than waiting to time a trade. He can also Slide under a number of projectiles such as Kabal's Gas Blast (and thus his instant-air fireballs), Scorpion's Spear, and Smoke's Smoke Bomb doesn't track it. He's not quite as strong as Raiden or Smoke but he can anti-zone pretty effectively.

Then again that's pretty much the story of Sub-Zero's life lol. Strong zoner, strong rushdown, strong anti-rush, strong anti-zone. He's just a tough character all around lol.

Honorable mention goes to Jade who is very strong both as anti-zone and anti-rush, but not quite the best in either.

Baraka, huh? I'm not a Baraka hater, after his buffs he can do some nasty shit (especially his corner game and mix-ups) but what's gotcha so high on him as an anti-rush character?

Well Baraka is a good anti rusher when his back is to the corner (Where all Raka players should stay ;P)
Mostly because people fear his wake-ups.
And if Baraka blocks an unsafe string, it means you get thrown into the corner.
Which pretty much spells instant death if your wake up game is weak.

I see lol. I don't play Baraka so I'm not entirely sure of how he plays. Interesting...

Totally agree with this. Sindel is ridiculous at zoning. Strong Sindel players that have perfected the fireball game are insane.

anti zoner:Quan chi, He never stops attacking, his mix ups are fierce, speed is his only issue but his skydrop more than compensates for that.

anti-rushdown:Kano, upball wake-up and back1,1,2 after block string are both really effective, and they both knock down to move in for the combo.

Zoner:Kabal fast projectiles and great punsihers, not to mention his run & stun set up.

Rush down:JC fastest punches and can keep you blocking until chip damage kills.
 
No mention of nightwolf? Any projectile zoners have to bump the yomi against Nightwolf, Smoke, Kenshi, or Kratos. I think Nightwolf is a great zoner or rushdown depending on play style.
 
i cant agree with sindel being best zoner, probably cuz im a noob fanboy but also because noob wins in trades with her in the projectile game. tho shes close. she has a more varied projectile game with a low fireball and a air fireball, but noobs is faster/safer.
 
Safer with horriable damage out put unless you have two bars midscreen. I would know I play noob also lol but id much rather have 37% midscreen than chippin away tryin to trap them in a black hole

you consider 7% damage+knockdown a bad projectile O.o..people have been far too spoiled with the likes of kanos knives imo lol.

and now we are venturing into more general territory with combo damage talk. noob now has reset combos that whiel can be gotten out of also has to be dealt with very specifically, and even when successfully dealt with leaves noob at prime advantage. heck with 2 bars hes capable of like 70-85% reset combos that you have to react to differently on each reset depending on which one it is and how noob implemented it. its a complete mindgame/mixup/pressure tool from full screen that can also be done off of a punish.

and ive rarely had the occasional ex blackhole fail while zoning. and dont forget if we are talking versus (which we are sorta segwaying into) noob can punish her zoning with teleport.

ive faced sindels with decent zoning skills as noob, was impressed, but not overwhelmed. it helps noob has really good footsies for positioning too.

but really i think this is a point where we will not agree on lol. there may be specific matchups where her zoning does better then noobs but overall i htink his is more effective.
