i love martial arts movies. in terms of actual fight scenes, favourites are kiss of the dragon and fist of legend. also the bourne identity deserves an honourable mention, even though there isnt many fight scenes, they are still AWESOME

Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

Dead or Alive

Tekken

King of Fighters

House of Flying Daggers

Ticked off Trannies with Knives

Another movie I highly recommend is Hero, starring Jet Li. Though it is full of 'wire-fu' it is a really artistic movie and delves deep into the meaning of martial arts and how it can be used to bring about peace.

Ong Bak I,II,III
The Protector
Tom Yung Goong
House of Flying Daggers
Police Story
Drunken Master I&II

These are my favorites.

Bruce Lee just goes without saying. It's obvious. Nobody tops him. Not even Ip Man...(Well, I don't know about that, but still.)

All of Bruce Lee's movies, that guy was on a level above everyone else!

Ip Man 1 & 2

Ong Bak Trilogy & The Protector

Drunken Master, Snake In Eagles Shadow, Police Story 1 & 2 & Rumble In The Bronx

Once Upon A Time In China Trilogy, Fist Of Legend, Kiss Of The Dragon, Fearless, Hero, The One & Tai Chi Master

District 13 & District 13 Ultimatum (more of a free running type movies but some great fight scenes too)

Bloodsport, Kickboxer, The Quest & In Hell

Marked For Death & Above The Law

The Karate Kid movies & Best Of The Best Movies

Mortal Kombat

The Matrix Trilogy

Kill Bill 1 & 2

The Raid 1 & 2

The Last Samurai, Ran & Seven Samurai

Although I consider Seven Samurai an excellent movie, I don't consider it a martial arts film. There are not that many fight scenes, and the ones there are there don't have much in the way of fight choreography or demonstration of individual prowess.

Lone Wolf And Cub: Baby Cart At The River Styx

Bloodsport

Once Upon A Time in China

The Street Fighter and Riki-Oh are guilty pleasures.

Bloodsport is good because Jean-Claude is in it.

I have to say i never really understood that hype around Bloodsport. Its a
Classic, and i enjoyed it too, but its not as good as some people think it is imo.

Its hard for me to choose my Favorite movie, cause i watched about 300+ MA movies.
First off, i enjoyed many, many Kung Fu and Shaw Brothers Movies like

-The One Armed Swordsman
-Return of the One Armed Swordsman
-Soul of the Sword
-The 36th Chamber of Shaolin 1 and 2
-Deadly Strike
-The Scorpion King
-Crippled Avengers
-The Boxer from Shantung
-Chinatown Kid

There are lots and lots of modern ones i like too, but i dont want
the list get too long....

I Enjoy a good Samurai Movie too. My Favorite among those is clearly
"Sword of Doom". I cant explain the feeling of this Movie with words.
Its just too Awesome, spiritual and deep. Example:

I do like the Bruce Lee movies more though.

Do you know any ronin or shogun movies?

As for Ronin/Samurai Movies i recommend the one i posted above.
Some other good ones are The Lone Wolf and Cub movies, or
Sanjuro and Yojimbo, both starring Toshirô Mifune.
Rashomon is more like a piece of art, and is inspired
by Shakespears Macbeth, but its still good.

As for more Modern ones, there are Harakiri,
The Twilight Samuri, and Zatoichi.

Swordkill is nice too. Its about a Samurai getting
Frozen in ice in the 16th century, and comes back to life
in the modern time. Its a very rare movie, but worth a sight.
