5 name drops in the trailer and why I think more could be playable!

Ok so I've seen Boon's tweet about revealing 5 new characters in the storymode trailer, those names were Jaqui, Takeda, Kung Jin, The Emporer (Shinnok) and Mileena. The rest were only seen (Sindel, Rain, Erron Black, Johnny Cage)

I don't think a 1 second snippet tease would count as a reveal (say for like Rain) so my line of thinking is these are the 5 characters that got proper airtime in the trailer.

Whilst I can totally see Sindel, Rain and perhaps Cage not in the roster, no way does Erron Black not make it.

Now you could say this means Shinnok doesn't make it, but I find that hard to believe at this point as well given the MK4 rumours/teasers.

Thoughts?
 
I can't see Sindel being in. He character model was her MK9 with some revenant doctored on to it. I think she's just a story mode opponent.
 
Shinnok will at least be DLC. In fact, I think MOST of the characters in that trailer are going to be playable - they're just not all likely to be on the launch roster. I can't see NRS putting so much detail into those characters without them being playable.

I mean, they didn't really bother wasting time in MK9 and Injustice Story Modes coming up with unique looks for characters that weren't ultimately playable. Especially in MK9: the cyber-ninjas were just gray re-skins of Cyrax and Sektor, and there were a bunch of generic no-name character models.
 
They have said that there are going to be a ton of story mode appearances and cameos. Most are not going to be on the playable roster. Sindel being one of them.
 
I definitely agree Sindel won't be playable (sadly)

I just think of Mileena, Shinnok, Erron and Johnny Cage left I'm amazed only 2 of those are suppose to be in. That's without mentioning Rain and Baraka as well.

I get there are suppose to be a lot of cameos tho.
 
Mileena is konfirmed. She had way too much spotlight in the trailer, a new design, massive plot relevance. Plus we already saw her in the challenge tower.
Erron Black probably doesn't count for the 5 number because he was in like 3 frames, most people who watched the trailer didn't even notice him there. It wouldn't be considered a "reveal" even if he's playable.
 
Well, they ARE reveals. I mean, they are there for us to see that they are indeed in the Story Mode. That's kinda what a reveal is, a showcase of something that is included in the game that you didn't already know would be there. Even if they were just in the trailer for a few split seconds, they are still revealed to be in the Story Mode.

Whether they are playable or not has yet to be seen though.
 
Boon said REVEALS, not necessarily playable.

I'd say he was talking about Jacqui, Takeda, Jin, Mileena and Shinnok, because they were properly revealed to be in MKX (again, not necessarily playable, though).

Erron and co. weren't revealed. The little snippets we got of them will go unnoticed by the majority of people who watch the trailer.

Personally, I think Erron Black, Jacqui, Kung Jin, Mileena and Takeda are all but confirmed to make the roster. Sonya Blade, Jax, Kenshi and Johnny Cage are very likely (based on leaks). Rain and Shinnok have a good shot at making the roster (re-designed models/costume, role in story). Reiko (huge character in the comic) could make an appearance. Other characters that have some chance are: Baraka (hidden in video), Fujin (comic, role in tower), Cyrax (role in tower, boons tweets) and Sindel (plays a role in story, but doesn't seem to have a new costume, and it's likely all of the MK9 dead heroes will be in the story but only some playable).

I believe the 5 characters Boon mentioned are the ones we actually say in-game: Jacqui, Kung Jin, Takeda, Mileena and Kuan Liang (maskless Sub-Zero, considering the one showed to us is Bi-Han). The rest were story mode appearances (including Shinnok) so far...

We didn't see any in-game Mileena. And I really doubt Sub-Zero was on Boon's mind when writing the tweet just because he has a different name for his trailer showing.

What a terrible roster that would be, far too many bland good guys and Jax, Sony, Johnny and Kenshi are completely redundant now.

Imagine missing the likes of Sektor, Sindel, Smoke, Shang Tsung, Kabal ect for what will not be far off, essentially, pallet swaps.
 
None of the characters are pallet swaps in the slightest. How is that still an argument considering we've seen how different Jin, Takeda and Jacqui are from their relatives?
