I hope (but do not realistically expect (*)) that it is going to be Tanya or Sareena.
If it is a new character, I would like it to be a proper Samurai! Maybe a undead/zombie/"demon" Samurai!
(*) I do have confidence in NRS/Ed Boon, but not that much, after all they made such boring characters as Mokap, Meat, ... and generally they some to favor male characters over female ones...

Tanya actually had her own special moves. The confidence you speak of is merely what people want, not who they would think it'd be, just like everyone elses vote. Hell I voted for Tanya because she was a fun character to play in Deception. I found Fujin to have totally corny specials and Boon stated he wouldn't be in this game.
On another note, I think it'd be silly to have cyber smoke in this game. Unless he was another skin of his character like Sektor and Cyrax, it'd be a waste of space. You'd have to develop that into the story (for example skarlet being shao khans last resort) and give reason to why it happened.

my guess is a new character. theres no way to tell who it is if its an already existing mk character from looking at that picture. like you dont see anything that stands out like a hat or a sword or something.

I'd LOVE to see Tremor FINALLY get some of the spotlight.
In all honesty though (according to Twitter), I think Ed Boon HATES Tremor; and therefore we won't see him in MK 9. :-(

Despite my general indifference towards Tremor, we need an earth-controlling kombatant, and the whole rivalry between Jax and Kano that NRS is putting on us isn't really convincing, IMO; Tremor would make a much better rival.

I agree 100%.
Kano and Sonya goes WAY back to MK 1, and Sonya hunting Kano down.
Even in MK II, I never bought the whole Jax also going after Kano story.
Jax going after Tremor, like in Special Forces (Yes, the game play was atrocious), made more sense to me.

Tanya .... she is a backup character to be "in chains" replacing Kitana, in Khan's Koliseum .... but, she being in the game, at least, as a cameo, could be a slight hint about her being secret developed, to be released ....
Well, they will release , for what we know , 4 characters, but, 2 of them being male, so, if Skarlet is one of the females, I think Tanya could be the other one.

Sorry but I dont see Tanya coming as DLC ever, + the ??? is a male, if not they would just put a generic female shadow.
I even think Li Mei has more chances than Tanya, but IDK why lol.

That picture is a placeholder, that resembles Johnny Cage, but, they purposely did it so, we all can guess who is, but, it's not the real character, that, can ending to be male or female, doesn't matter.

Reasons for keeping 4th DLC character a mystery
we dont know why exactly the last character is a secret, but there are some theories.
maybe the last character has still not been decided yet, we dont know when it will be announced, and they could delay however long they want.(see Skarlett)
Or maybe whatever the last character is, it is going to be a big one. One that would please everyone, and is purposly being kept a secret for the suspence. If so, then I really doubt someone mediocre like Rieko(my opinion) would be chosen. After all, they would be more fit more for a sequal rather than this game which is more of a tribute to the classics. They have already gotten the most requested character out of the way, Rain. So the only one left is Robo Smoke.
Of course they might just be keeping it secret to stir things up and keep people intrested in the game, I dont know. Thoughts?

sorry, but thats the most foolish thing that been posted here. Their chances were in Armageddon,this game is a throwback to old fans.
