"300" Prequel/Sequel

IESB had the chance to talk to director Zack Snyder about whether the second "300" installment will be a sequel or a prequel. According to Snyder it will be both.
If you remember, at the end of "300," 10,000 Spartans were getting ready to fight the Battle of Plataea, which is a year after King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) fought in the battle of Thermopylae.​

The new film will look into the time between the two battles with David Wenham possibly returning to reprise the role of Dilios, the wounded soldier who left the battle of Thermopylae in order to share the story of the 300 Spartans. Snyder revealed that he would definitely direct the second installment, but work on the script will not begin until Frank Miller completes his new graphic novel which the film will be based on.​

Aw come on don't sell out...the first movie was at least mostly based in fact. This new novel/film can't be based in shit...leave it a one hit wonder, I wouldn't want to see more.

Hmm, I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to the 300 with telling the story of 10,000 defeating the Persians but as long as they don't sway away from the original story...

Yeah i watched 300 finally and didnt like it that much. The ending sucked, and they completely ignored facts that were pretty important in what really happened.

I personally didn't like the movie much, but given its success, WB is certainly pushing for a sequel. As long as they don't pressure the director much, it'll end well.

Word up. The movie was mediocre, and those 300 Spartans were a rearguard, not a vanguard. The Greeks got owned in a bad way, without all this glory nonsense.

Also, Zack Snyder is a major dumbass. I hope he doesn't screw up Watchmen too badly.

I liked 300. Who cares how historically accurate it was. History is boring. 300 gave me 2 hours of total (ungay) manliness. That show about the real battle on the History Channel did not.

You can keep all the cheesy-ass, CGI generated action and still adhere to what historically happened: the Spartans got owned by the Persians.

From an entertainment point, it was interesting. Not boring IMO, but depending on which 300 storyline you're looking for may not please you that much.

Anywho, as for prequels I'm looking forward to the Hobbit way more which will own once that comes out ; )

here's a great sequel: The Revenge of the Athenians. In the battle of salamis, a lone survivor of Thermyoplae avenges his lost mates in the decisive naval battle at Salamis, where the Persian navy is destroyed by the Athenians, led by Themistocles. I think that would be a great sequel. Thermyoplae was just one of many battles in the Persian-Greco wars, so there's a lot of material to write off of.

Sure there's a lot of material, but it's hard to tie it into the first movie coherently and bring back characters without fudging the history somewhere.

I wouldn't say that completely, all they have to do is be careful...very and they won't mess up. I hope they do some good, hard research first before they make this next one. And not just rush into it, put things that aren't canon(some fans will hate that, other people might not mind)
