2 new Castlevania games

So that was Alucard. I have to be honest, I haven't played LoS in so long. Only characters I remember are Gabriel and Zobek. Everyone else draws a blank for me

Marie is Gabriel's wife, who he had killed under the influence of the devil mask. Trevor is Gabriel's and Marie's son who was kept a secret from him by his wife and the Brotherhood since they had foreseen Gabriel's future and realised Trevor and his lineage would be the only ones capable of stopping him. Gabriel first meets Trevor in MoF when Trevor goes to the castle to take him down and this happens as they fight.

Trevor then later resurrects as Alucard. And Carmila is the vampire boss you fight in the first LoS game. The toy maker is a boss you fight in MoF where he creates life like replicas of characters.

Yup it is canon. In MoF after Alucard awakens after a number of years, he hates his father more as he didn't allow him to die and instead made him a dark creature. He helps his son, Simon defeat Dracula.

I'm quite intrigued by some of the returning characters. The child at the castle resembles kid Trevor quite a bit and we also get to see Marie in a few instances but since both of them no longer exist as of now it seems like Gabriel is haunted by their ghosts or his mind messing him up. Or perhaps the toy maker made replicas of his wife and son for him so that he could live atleast a pseudo life with them, which is quite depressing.

The other lady we see, wearing the brotherhood outfit resembles pre- vampire/lord of shadow Carmilla. I wonder what role she has to play. Great to finally see Alucard in his entirety as well, he has got a neat design.

can you screen cap it please?

The lady seen in the trailer.

Wait I thought after you killed the los their good counter parts dies too? So how is she still alive? And is that a young Belmont? Could we see this branch out past the Lords of Shadow and Gabrael? Hmmm...

Yes that is correct, that's why it intrigues me a lot. The young Belmont is actually Trevor, Gabriel's son who isn't supposed to be there as he is already dead...or undead since he is Alucard now. Marie, Gabriel's wife too seems to be alive as evidenced by the trailer, I'm guessing there is some time travel involved since the setting is in the current modern world.

So Konami just announced this

I liked the game they remade for the psp, so I'll be picking this one up, good old side-scrolling action

New gameplay video explaining some of the gameplay, combat mechanics and Dracula's powers along with an interesting encounter with child Trevor (or his ghost?)

Spoiler:
From what I read it seems like Dracula's castle is preventing him from getting out whereas the ghosts of his child and wife are assisting him in getting out.

I watched that one yesterday.

The combat looks delicious. I also like how the vampire bowed to Dracula, before the castle forced him to rebel.

Just downloaded Mirror of Fate HD I've been wanting to play a badass sidescroller for a while. I'll post my initial impressions once I've played it for a while.

I just tried the demo, I don't like it at all.

Worst of both worlds imo.

It's 2d Castlevania without the tried and true combat.
It's Lords of Shadow without the dynamic combat.

Just really mashy.

The combat from Lords of Shadow really doesn't translate well to 2D, enemies are always keeping me from evading backward since they come from both sides. Mobility is weird too, the air dash doesn't go nearly as far as you'd think it would.

I like the fact that it is open world again and that Alucard returns but that's about it. I guess I'll just have to play Symphony of the Night again if I want a good Metroidvania experience.
