Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

MK11 is being written with the help of Kittelsen, which is what gives me more hope for the MKX characters in MK11, as we should have even less (or no) plot holes in story mode.
That was the biggest issue that I had with the MKX comics vs MKX story mode: the inconsistency between the 2 mediums.

I actually read the comic again recently and it's pretty obvious why there were so many inconsistencies. It looks like they gave Kittelsen an incomplete version of the game's story to work with initially and then he got the full thing halfway through the comic. That's why he starts changing stuff like Mileena's face, Ermac going to Kotal's side, etc.
The comic is great though, so hopefully MK11 is like that. The chapter where Kotal wants to sacrifice himself and D'vorah, Reptile and Ferra tell him why he is the best to rule Outworld was the highlight for me.

To be honest, I think the "chapters" format with 4 fights for the same character makes it harder for them to make the story. I wish they ditch that for this game.

I just hope Jacqui doesn't have cornrows again. I was so heated when they gave Kai cornrows in Armageddon

I'm getting excited all over again for Jacqui. She needed the customization feature so bad. Her MKX alt was legit just her without her jacket. And that's such a shame considering how crazy her concept art got with her.

But I hope they really let loose with the Jax in her. If he's sitting the game out, I want her to have Gotcha grabs, back breakers and earthquakes. With her own unique spin on them of course. Like imagine if every time she punched with a Gotcha grab, she simultaneously shot a missile in your face.

A part of me kinda hopes they go in the direction that some of her concept art and alt costumes went in giving her a full set of cybernetic battle suits, make her into a cyber super soldier.

This is an interesting idea. Ideally they explain that she was killed between MKX and MK11, and she's a full-on cyborg. :elefant:

 You really can't stand her, can you....

Waste of a roster spot - that's really what it comes down to, and how I view characters. Even if I'm not fond of a character and don't play them, I can be objective about their inclusion being warranted or not. There are plenty of classic characters I don't personally play but would never criticize for making the cut... Jacqui is just a really bland, tedious, one-note character and should be dropped.

I have a feeling that either Rain, Reptile, Smoke or Noob Saibot could be unlockables for MK11.
Hear me out.
MK11 seems to have a lot of hints to MK1 and MKII, as it is (lightning logo for the reveal, MK1 Toasty, MK1 Raiden head explosion, MKII Sub-Zero Brutality)...

Tin foil hat theory time.....
Remember, Reptile was the original hidden boss fight in MK1 with the Pit, and Noob Saibot was a hidden boss fight for MKII.

Soooooooo....... What if Reptile and Noob Saibot are unlockable in MK11 by doing their MK1 & MKII requirements (double Flawless and Fatality and winning 50 matches in a row, respectively)???

The story should be that in order for Kronika to rewind time she needs to sacrifice Jacqui and send her soul into a different dimension that even the elder gods can't get her soul back

I mean I want to believe this. But they already did this in MK 2011. I highly doubt they'll do this again. Ever.

Jacqui will be like "if I go down, you're coming with me!". Boom, 2 characters shift+del'd.

I doubt it. If you have Noob Saibot on the roster, you show him off. Looks better for marketing and you make his numerous fans happy.

I don't see them having more than 1 unlockable character. And since it isn't Kronika, I think it'll be Geras.

I think there will be atleast one unlockable character in the game, whether its a secret character or not is up for debate, I doubt it's Geras since why would they show off the one unlockable character as the first reveal, atleast with Shinnok they waited a while before showing him.

The unlockable character will, presumably be Kronika and/or Geras, with Shao Kahn as pre-order DLC.

I do like the Reptile/Noob/Jade secret character theory, but I think it's too left-field for NRS these days, and too many tourney players would about them not being immediately playable.

I really wish they would ditch this as well and bring in characters when they're needed. Villains need their own playable role as well. Most of them suffer from bad character development when they're lost in the shuffle and jobbed out when they do come in. Ermac, for example, has one of my favorite bits of character development in the original timeline through his path of redemption. Now.. He's just an evil henchman that gets his ass kicked.

He arguably still has it better than others, considering he's responsible for Jax having cybernetic arms in the current timeline. But characters like Reptile, Baraka, Sheeva, Erron Black, Ferra/Torr, Rain and Tanya are just... There.

Mortal Kombat has so much untapped storytelling potential through many of its character's origins alone. Imagine if NRS actually embraced Rain as the bitter, bastard son of Argus. Or if Baraka lead the Tarkatans as an independent army.
