Mortal Kombat 11 General Discussion Media Thread

NRS is much different team than they were back under Midway where they were under constant pressure to keep rushing these games out. If they had time to actually sit down and think about how to design Dairou, he'd be a much better character

They already did that, as evidenced by the fact that he was originally kreated for Deadly Alliance.

The ONLY reason why I wouldn't want Onaga is because then it's leading back to the Armageddon timeline, which is 1 of the positive things that I see with Kronika and this whole MK11 story arc.
If done right (which I suspect that it will be with Kittelsen being involved), the story of MK11 could possibly do a thing where it skips / erases Armageddon, altogether, while still keeping the characters from that era involved in another way.
Ed Boon spoke in an interview how it's a bit of Back To The Future stuff going on in MK11, and if anyone remembers Back To The Future II certain events not happening could cause characters to be missing / not show up in this timeline, or vice versa.

Character-wise, yeah, Ashrah and Nitara could get a good revamp, but so could ANY character from that era, IMO.

Which is why ANY 3D era character could have a chance to be revamped for MK11, if other people (in general) wouldn't just dismiss them because of how they were when they debuted.

People are so quick to say that "___________ (post-MK3 debut character) sucks and shouldn't be in MK11" without even giving NetherRealm a chance.
This isn't Midway anymore.

Even though I am in the camp that believes the 3d characters can be revamped, I also understand that it can come with a chance of failing. You could try and remake Ashrah into a badass, or you could just use that roster spot for Noob Saibot, who is already a well loved badass. It's the safer bet, which is why NRS usually goes for it.

Like I ADORE Ferra/Torr, he's up there in my top 10 favorites of the series. But I've already accepted the fact that he wont be back because the fans hated him.

Yeah, I wasn't missing work, but it was going to be pretty unproductive afternoon. Guess I'll go ahead and get work done :( lol

Aw, man.
I was looking forward to it too, but yeah, that storm is no joke.
Kind of glad that I didn’t book anyone for the 5th on the new Kombat Kast date, but :(.
 
I rather have new original stuff than trying to bring back stuff from the 3D era. I'm glad that we are getting a new original boss again than Onaga because I feel like we don't need any more repeates.

The 3d cast were so underdeveloped that if they were brought back, they would pretty much be new characters. Almost half of the 3d characters shot generic fireballs and had terribly animated kicking/punching specials
 
Bummed about tomorrow, been thinking about it since the reveal but it's totally understandable and I hope everyone stays safe.

But that's the thing, if Kronika could bring people from alternate timelines, she could bring Onaga. Also, Raiden made changes after Onaga's scheme, so, if we consider Cassie's ending canon, maybe he accidentaly screwed the Dragon King's plans - but surely not his return (as I've said during MKX times but nobody might remember lol). You should not be worried, the Battle of Armageddon was Shinnok's doing, and while the kombatants keep growing, I doubt it will end the same way, specially that now Raiden is going on a rampage.

But to be really honest, and to break my heart, I don't think Onaga would be back for MK11. He possibly had one of the greatest goals in the whole MK universe, that was awakening the One Being, becoming the One Being and killing the Elder Gods. So I really doubt he wouldn't be a threat to Kronika. Not to mention they are very excited for the first female boss, don't think they'll make Onaga hijack her status mid-game.

UNLESS we are demoting Onaga to sub-boss status that we are not expecting! Who knows if Kronika doesn't want to reset everything to One Being times? Besides, she wants evil, he was so corrupted that he tainted Raiden the same way Shinnok did, and we do know Shinnok's absence is the reason for Kronika to get mad.

Also, Geras has a chest crystal or whatever that's called that is a direct reference to Onaga.

Geras is sub-boss for this one (per Shaun Himmerick), unless there's 2 sub-bosses in MK11.
I'm also thinking like you [MENTION=18134]Yellow Ledbetter[/MENTION] that maybe Raiden did mess with the Dragon King's plans.
If Reptile's not playable in MK11, then I'm thinking that maaaaaaaaybe it could be a reference to Onaga, given that Reptile's body was used as the host for Onaga in the old timeline.
Argh! I need some of the answers to these questions.

Like, now that Geras and Kronika are confirmed, does this also mean that there is an anti-Geras / Kronika new MK11 character, as rumored, who maybe DOES agree with Raiden and / or disagrees with Kronika?

Which is why I'm hoping to see some of them back.
Fujin, Havik, Hotaru, Sareena -and the like- could be a total 180 degrees from what they were in the old timeline, in a good way, especially now with 3 variations that can be customized.
