Official Street Fighter Thread

Capcom is a Japanese company, and SFV will be played on a Japanese console. And oh by the way, see this?

If his name really was Balrog, then obviously his boxing trunks would say "Balrog" on them. Care to explain why it says "Bison" on there? Why is his Super Combo called the Crazy Buffalo? Why was he literally dressed like a Bison in his Alternate 5 costume in USF4?

Yes. The real reason Capcom changed the names in America is because they were legitimately afraid of being sued by Mike Tyson for Trademark and Likeness infringement. Around the time of SF2's release, Mike Tyson was also facing rape charges (for which he was convicted, and served about 3-4 years behind bars, if I remember correctly). Even despite the name changes in the US, the boxer character STILL maintains references to his original Japanese name (the word "Buffalo" listed several times in his move list, the Buffalo alternate costume, the word "Bison" on his boxing trunks in several pieces of official artwork, some of which have even been published in American gaming magazines such as Nintendo Power), and even references to his namesake (such as threatening to bite his opponent's ears off in at least one of his win quotes, an obvious reference to Tyson's infamous "Bite Fight" vs Evander Holyfield, which cost Tyson his boxing license for about a year plus a $3 million fine).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

First you say "I don't believe any of that." Then after my next rebuttal, you do a 180 and say "I know about that stuff but I meant I didn't believe in the other part." And when questioned about what "other part", you have the audacity to tell me you DON'T EFFIN' KNOW?! How can you NOT KNOW what part you admitted to not believing in the first place?

That Vega face is gonna haunt my dreams.

Anyway goddamn did they change Vega's gameplay or what. This dude went from having good buttons and spacing to good buttons, spacing and rush down. I mean did you guys see that Ex-command grab? Geez.

Nash still looks the best. Disappointed in that Bison play and love the facial updates
