DLC Characters Ladder Endings & Dialogue Intros

NPC Tanya has Sonya, Mileena, Kitana, and other character's moves. I really don't see anything unique to that version of her besides that badly animated fireball she has.

I miss when an on-disc Raiden, Nitara, and Frost were bought with COINS.
Now we gotta pay money for on-disc characters

You seem to have a very simplistic and naive understanding of game production.

Let's say that Midway had a budget of $20 mil to make MK:D. They made the entire game (minus Raiden, Nitara, and Frost) and it only cost them $19.5 mil. Underbudget! Awesome! Let's keep working until we hit the $20 mil mark, and throw the extra stuff into the Krypt! Everyone wins except the people who gave us the $20 mil, but if we get good reviews that will lead to more sales, so they'll win in the end.

Now let's say that NRS had a budget of $100 mil to make MKX. They made the entire game (minus Goro) and it cost them precisely $100 mil. That's it, game's done, budget is completely spent. However, they know that they want to do DLC, so they approach WB and say "hey guys let's get the DLC stuff started sooner rather than later, so we can get as many extra characters into the game as possible." They manage to finish Goro before the game physically ships, so they put him on the disc so that unlocking him is a painless process.

Not only did NRS not have any core budget to expend on Goro - and their employees surely weren't going to make him for free, they have families to feed - but they end up offering him for free anyway as part of the pre-order deal.

Everyone wins.

I don't know that this is what happened. But I also don't know that it's not, so I don't jump down NRS's throat for allegedly shitty business practices which they may or may not be committing.

On-disc DLC is not inherently bad, it's only bad if launch content is getting paywalled. We don't know that Goro was supposed to be launch content. In fact, his complete absence from story mode hints very strongly against this.

I believe that they've had Goro done for quite some time now. They announced him in September, they knew what they were doing.

Yeah, but Goro was free for everyone who preordered. As 'day one DLC' goes, that's pretty solid. They wanted a big launch, and it helped them get one.

It doesn't matter when they finished him, what matters is where the money for making him came from. Did it come from the main budget for the entire game, or did it come from the DLC budget? If it came from the DLC budget, then the only relevant question is: would you rather that character designers get to work on Goro ASAP if they've got dick-all else to do, so he could be packaged with preorders for free, or would you rather they just take a few months off from work, and he'll be completely off-disc DLC that everyone has to pay for?

I know which one I prefer.

Obviously the former. I'm not arguing with you though, I actually agree with you, I was just saying though that they did have him in mind quite a long time ago.
CFW I don't think it takes 9 months to make a character lol I think they said it takes about 6 weeks if i'm remembering correctly.

no i think he said all of jason's info
this is his exact quote -
BTW... I know Jason's variations... bio... victory pose dialogues... in-fight chatter... pretty much everything. Just saying. Not sure I want to drop all of it, though. Don't want to get the site and myself into trouble or anything.

If you're worried about getting in trouble, PM it to me and I'll say what they are.

If you're interested, I found something that will blow your mind and prove 100% on the 4th during the stream that this is real - if any of you are still in doubt...

Which is Scorpion's fireball. The NPC version of Tanya has absolutely no unique moves.

Bio
Death and revenge make up the very core of Jason Voorhees' being. He died as a young boy. His mother killed out of grief and rage. When she was murdered, Jason returned and avenged her. Many times since, the living have tried to send him back to the realm of the dead. He's been stabbed, drowned, electrocuted, hurled into space… But Jason cannot be killed. Cannot be stopped.

Ladder Ending
Like Scorpion, Jason Voorhees was a revenant: a vengeful spirit returned to life. Hundreds had fallen victim to his bloodlust. Liu Kang, now ruler of the Netherrealm, took notice. An immortal killer like Jason would be useful in his plans for konquest. He drew Jason into the Netherrealm and offered him an endless bounty of slaughter… in return for his allegiance. Jason's simple reply was to destroy Liu Kang.

What exactly does this prove? Hundreds of game testers already have access to Jason. We demand Tanya's moves list! ;)
