Am I the only one who doesn't like any of the new characters??

Psylocke didn't wear a mask. They had similarities, but I definitely wouldn't classify Kitana as a 'rip-off' simply because she had similar clothing.

Rip-off doesn't mean an exact copy of something else, but as is shown above, an imitation of something. And Kitana was indeed an imitation of Psylocke in MK2. But almost ALL of the MK characters were imitations of someone else back then. That was my main point, that even if the MK characters are alike other characters seen in other games and media, they still have their own unique twist to them that makes them their own characters.
 
I agree that they aren't as exciting as other characters but I think that's partly due to not knowing much about them. but honestly I think part of the reason why they aren't that great is that they are solely based off of cliches. Ferra/Torr is a gimmick character. Just a big character with a little person with them. Been there done that. There's nothing enticing to them otherwise.

But that means you used the wrong term because Kitana is a "superior" imitation.
 
LOL, you gotta love these kind of threads. People are crying for new kombatants for months and insulting NRS for breaking promises about MKX having more new kharacters than any MK ever before. Then they are complaining about how lame the new faces are. It's hard to please nowadays. LMFAO!

An average MK fan's dream:

- an MK with all the klassic favourites
- half of the roster should be new though (so that's a 60+ roster at release and that should be perfectly balanced)
- new kharacters must be totally different from the old ones and totally different from any other FG's kast
- no relatives
- must be a new ninja
- no palette swaps though
- Liu Kang is lame so he should be left out
- or not since he has fans too and he's a klassic
- Boss should be playable without cheap moves
- he must be hard to beat though since he's THE boss
- Boss should be a badass. It's not a problem if he's Shao Kahn but he should be new as well. Best case scenario: Shao Kahn merged with Liu Kang and he's on fire

Eh. I don't really see it. They wore similar outfits (minus the mask for Psylocke) but it's not like a leotard is anything special or unique to these characters. Outside of that their abilities and stories are completely different.
 
Love almost all of them. Kotal, D'vorah, Ferra/Torr... Cassie has such an awesome personality. Kung Jin and Takeda looks great in gameplay.

Erron Black, I think i will only be able to tell when i play the game. He looks great, but doesn't seems to fit in Mortal Kombat so far.

and I'm not so sure about Jacqui, doesn't seems to be an interesting character so far... She looks generic. Easily replaceable for a better female character. wish her and her father wasn't in MKX.

Man topic creator is right, I just came to realization that the whole MK series suck balls, you know what! Pre-order canceled, i'll wait for SF5 because I heard the new characters in that game are going to be awesome, oh and did I tell you about Tekken7? The new characters especially the furry whore are a 100x better than any new character in MKX!

Pretty much. I hated the new guys at first during E3, but after seeing proper gameplay and reading some lore they grew on me.

Cassie is my favorite numero uno. Kotal Kahn is my 2nd favorite. Followed by Erron Black at 3rd place. Those 3 are beast. Then I'm interested also in Kung Jin at 4th place, D'Vorah at 5th, Takeda at 6th, Ferra/Torr at 7th and Jacqui as last at 8th.

But yeah. Cassie/Kotal/Erron are some of the best new characters ever. It may be partially due to the graphics, which really bring the characters to life, but I think their personality and style stands out also on its own. Probably because they're well written.

But we haven't seen Kung or jacqui nor Takeda fully in action, im pretty sure they are going to be awesome, no way in hell is NRS going to pull another Hsu hao / Mavado on us.
 
Kotal kahn: imo is one of the coolest mortal kombat characters in a very long time.
Erron black: could be really cool, but I need to see gameplay first
Takeda: is in that same boat
Kung jin: looks pretty sick
Cassie: is alright I prefer her father though
jacqui: is pretty bleh
Ferra/Torr: look kind fun
D'vorah: has so much potential i just don't like her look much hopefully her alt is cool
 
The only new character that seems completely out of place and not interesting is Ferra/Torr.

The rest looks absolutely awesome.
 
With all due respect , Sonya Blade has a huge fan base and she's one of the most generic , boring characters in MK. She's in the military..........the end. The new characters haven't had a chance to make their names in the franchise yet. Who knows? They may be some of the new favorite characters for years to come.

I'm personally looking at Cassie Cage and D'Vorah. Even though my mains will almost definitely be Goro and Jason.

It looks like everyone here is doing that, stating an opinion as if it's a fact.
I mean we are talking about characters here! Not every character will be loved/liked by ppl which is ok, but some ppl talk like their opinion is a fact and like there are no other opinions.

IMO D'Vorah is one of the best and most original characters in MK ever and she is already my favorite but i understand and don't expect everyone to like her.
