Yeah, you all... seriously. Misucra isn't even in the wrong here. I get it. He was talking about the writing and I understand why he would express his opinion that in that one instance, it was bad writing. Hell, if you ask me, I think he's being really light about the whole thing because even though the writing is okay, I think it's far too sparse for my blood in the long run. The Injustice comic is better by a long shot.
What I don't understand is the chauvinistic (I don't really have a better word for what I'm seeing here) and dismissive attitude that a lot of members here have about other members and their REAL fandom of the game. Such as "It's fiction. It's not a big deal and you SHOULDN'T care about it." Shakespeare is also fiction and his work is one of the MOST IMPORTANT pieces of English history. The case I'm making is that there's nothing wrong with being passionate about our stories and our fictions. It's called having fun. It's called bringing meaning to the world that we live in. And no, I'm not foolish enough to compare Mortal Kombat to Shakespeare, but I'm certainly not going to knuckle drag dismiss someone's love for a fictional game because one fails to see any value whatsoever in our fictions. Fiction is one the most serious things humanity engages in. My god, people go to church over the shit. Without stories. Without drama. Without these fictions, life is pretty god damned dry and tends to be REALLY boring. Contrary to what many might think here, fiction isn't something to dismiss when you get annoyed by a fan's love for the game to remind them that their admiration for it shouldn't matter. Quite the contrary. Fiction matters... a lot, really. And it's pretty d!ckish to actually snub the game and relegate it to a place of unimportance simply because you're being inconvenienced with a fan's love for the game IN AN APPROPRIATE THREAD NO LESS.
More and more, I have to say that I'm glad we have members like p.W. Kitty_55 and Misucra because their intelligent appreciation for all the dimensions of this game is admirable compared to those who simply like to run away from serious and engaging discussions by saying "La la la! It's just fiction, it doesn't matter!" when honestly, talking about art IMO is one of the best activities that any person can engage in. Honestly. If it's just fiction and unimportant and shouldn't be taken even remotely seriously, then why are you and I or anyone else even here? Let's not kid ourselves. Let's not try to pretend that somehow we're above the admiration of Mortal Kombat. We're all here because it matters to us on some level.
