Any word on Kabal one way or another?

You really don't know how Kabal got burned?

wat.

and he doesn't wear a cape.

Thanks for answering an argument with two sentences. Much respect.

I know how Kabal got burned. His being burned has nothing the frig to do with his being "a reformed criminal who has super speed."

Imagine if Johnny Cage got burned on set while filming a dangerous stunt, and came to MKX wearing a gas mask and as respirator, and started using a bow and arrow as weapons. That's literally how much nonsense you'd have to add to Johnny Cage to make him as absurd a combination of random things as Kabal is right now.

Doesn't have a cape? In the immortal words of you,

wat.

now... what is a cloak?

Yeah, bog the conversation down in pointless semantics, that'll surely win you the argument. Whatever. I've said my piece and made my position clear to anyone else reading this thread. If you have no interest in putting effort into your responses to me, I have no reason to continue talking to you.

Thank you for this useful post.

Aww, you two. You must be in love since you can cut the sexual tension with a butterknife in here.

But as peewee said, Kabal has alot of mishmash special moves. A criminal wielding hookswords isn't all that unusual. Maybe he just thought they were cool and started training with them. I don't blame him.

But the eye blast and those razorsaws... they make no sense.

I don't blame him for thinking they're cool, but it makes as much sense for him to use them as it does for Sonya or Johnny or Jax to start using them. "Why not?"

Lookit, Stryker is a cop and he uses a gun, taser, and baton, Scorpion is a ninja and he uses ninja swords and a kunai, Sub-Zero manipulates ice and he uses weapons made out of ice, Kano is a mercenary commando and he uses knives and grenades, Kotal Kahn is an Aztec warrior and he uses a traditional Aztec weapon, Nightwolf is a Native American shaman and he uses a spirit bow and spirit tomahawk (if anything it's a little too accurate), and Kabal... has... hook... swords.

Why not a gun? Criminals use guns. Or knives and daggers. Better yet, Kabal is supposed to be Chinese, right? Well, Chinese gangsters have a bit of a reputation for hacking people up with machetes. So why not give him a machete, if NRS wants him to have a unique weapon + something kind of authentically Chinese? (Obviously the real answer is Kabal having hook swords is more important than his ethnicity or, really, anything else about the character.)

Well first off, these specials were created on very limited technology 20 years ago. They didn't really have many options for coming up with special moves for characters. That's one reason why he has the gas blast. but at the end of the day... it's a video game.

All the other characters have lore-canon reasons to have their special moves. Except for Kabal. So that's no excuse.

What's the lore behind Johnny Cage being able to shoot green fireballs? or Kano being able to defy gravity?

Every fighting game character in every fighting game can "defy gravity" with their standard jump attacks, which are all preposterous and unrealistic to the extreme. Kano, Liu Kang, and Sonya are just a little bit more creative about it.

... Have you even played MK9? Watched the endings?

Just because someone hasn't seen Johnny Cage's arcade ending doesn't mean they haven't played the game. It's just been a long time since I've seen it. and I just watched it. It doesn't say anything about his powers other than he was taught to control them.

Do your research first before throwing arguements around.

It's your own fault for not being informed. This is the internet, if you want to know something, you can just google it and BAM! Answers right in front of you. Then you don't need to look the fool on a forum like this.
