SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Yeah, I played MK3 and had lots of fun. Used to play with Liu Kang, then I tried Sub-Zero.

But Scorpion's exclusion did make a negative difference. Not only him, the """""ninjas""""".

That's why UMK3 was a very good move.

Yet, MK3 is a very good and fun game.

I think if my favorite characters (I have many, but the trio Scorpion-SubZero (any)-Raiden always is on the top list) must be out of the game, there should be a coherent explanation (just like MK3 Raiden). Just that. Maybe I will feel sad, but then I will understand, at the least with a good explanation.

The REAL coherent reason for Raiden's exclusion is because the character was suspended from the roster due to transgressions by his actor, Carlos Pesina.

Psh fickle ass fans.

Just kidding, to each their own I guess. Then again, I'm a Scorpion dude and the one game where he wasn't included came out when I was barely old enough to do simple math.

I'd be bummed if he wasn't included in a future game but I love MK to death and I'd still play the shit out of that game to the same degree as if he were in the game.

Because you're not some immature spaz of a fan.

Yeah, but they could make a good reason to the game, right?

Like "I cannot interfere directly but I can protect your souls, not your lives".

I liked that!

I advise everyone on Comixology to steer clear of this thread for now, the Google Play people are gonna get Issue 2 soon

I'm about to buy the first two issues, but a few questions:

What are the pros and cons for Comixology? Pros and cons for Google Play?

Am I to understand that chapter 3 will be exclusive to print for three days (since issue one comes out on Wednesday, but digital comes out on Sunday)?

Comixology updates later, like 10 AM EST, but displays properly. From what I've seen with Google Play, the pages are split in half.

Didn't the writer of the comic say the rest of the comic takes place 15 years after MK9 or something to that effect?

How is Cassie explainable, then? Are we going to see a 15-year-old Cassie fight and kill? Or do you think her part in the comic will take place 20-25 years after MK9?

Yes, we should be getting a time skip to 15 years after MK9 in this next chapter.

And no, he's said the entire comic is going to mostly stay at that 15 year period, with some flashbacks. Cassie's story is going to be set at the same time as everyone else's, and it's been confirmed she'll be a teen. I think it is way too early to talk about her wantonly killing people, though.

Looks that way. Kind of hope that doesn't happen too often.

So, the 3rd print comic will come out on the 15th?
I guess I'll have to steer away from this thread for 3 days until the 18th, when that happens, then.

On another note, tomorrow comes out issue #2, and I wonder if we'll really find out "Who" this Sub-Zero really is, and what's going on between Forest Fox and Takeda.

It's the first print comic, but it collects the first three digital chapters, I believe.

Chapter 2 is already out on iBooks! Just got done reading it. It's sadly a little bit shorter than the first chapter.

Ah. Okay. Good to know. Yeah, I think her first kill will be a big deal and might not be until the game's story.

I really liked this issue. Pretty badass ending.

Spoilers!
Spoiler:
Sub-Zero didn't make an appearance though. And the dagger seems to be with Scorpion now.

My thoughts:

Spoiler:
I liked how they incorporated the timejump.

Takeda even has a bandana like his father's. Bleh. I want the descendants to be unique, goddammit.

What happens at the end totally mirrors what happens to Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

If that's the kamidogu dagger, I find it hard to believe Raiden would ask Scorpion to guard it. Is there no place more secure? What happened to the temple of the elements?

Who is this demon? Onaga? Quan Chi? A new character?

It took like ten years for Raiden to notice that the Netherrealm War broke cosmic barriers and to fix them? Wow, what a joke for a protector.

"Who's fault do you suppose that is?" Does this mean Raiden got some good guys killed during the war against Shinnok? Or was he not able to bring back most of the revenants? Or is Scorpion referring to MK9?

The disfiguration seems kind of random. I wonder if it will be explained. Is it technically a Meat cameo?

Fox seemed very self-aware about what he was doing, based on his "army of assassins" line.

Raiden might be working for the demon/be possessed. Maybe it's Shinnok's fail-safe in losing the war? His ace-in-the-hole? Seems odd that Raiden lied to Sub-Zero, got Scorpion's clan killed (by giving him valued dagger and giving him vague warnings), and took so long to repair the cosmic barriers. Also foreshadowed by Scorpion calling him a liar.

Spoiler:
I'm not so sure it's the same dagger. The design's different from the one Kano held.
Spoiler:
If it's the same dagger, it's possible that we only saw how Kano got it so that when he pops up in MKX with it in his possession, we know how that came to be. And then Raiden could retrieve it and give it to Scorpion for safeguarding, which leads us here, back to the comic. I think the game will fill in most of the mysteries left open in the comic. It's likely that the comic and game will benefit each other, plugging each others holes, if you will (that sounds a bit dirty...).

In any case, that demon was after the dagger, so it's probably very important. And if it's the same cursed dagger kamidogu, this could be Forrest under the curse. If the curse is powerful enough to screw someone up as bad as this, I wonder what became of Kuai Liang. Scorpion will probably blame Raiden for the destruction of his clan here, since Raiden endangered the Shirai Ryu by giving Scorpion the dagger, which explains the pre-fight dialogue between Scorp and Raiden about bringing his clan back.
