The Tone of MKX

So all this shit about how BAD Komic Relief is for MK, and not one word about how MK is slowly looking looking like a disreputable strip club?

I'd MUCH rather see BRC fart jokes than these slutty outfits the women have been given as of late.

I'm guessing thats coz women make you uncomfortable....I dont give a shit what the women are wearing...:/

Toilet humor, has no place in mk....no humor does really

Kenshi made some sense as well, even if he was just a DLC character. Now that Shang Tsung is dead, they wouldn't have been able to use him in the next game... Unless they decide to bring him back for some ungodly reason.

Defending his realm from attack is a good reason to have him back.

An alcoholic fatso with fart and puke based fighting?
In Mortal Kombat?
Let his realm be seized. I don't care.

No, I'm with you guys as well. I could do with a far more serious tone as well.

Regardless, I don't have much interest in playing Bo Rai Cho but I would welcome him more without the silliness. I also agree with Cage. Johnny was a bad ass in MK1. Lets hope they go back to that in X.

I didn't know Cage jumped 20 years in age between the events of UMK3 and MK4.

I wasn't referring to Johnny Cage's age. I was making a point to Tarkatan Trash. People change. After the events of MK3, Cage would surely be a different person. Less egotistical and Hollywood-like. y, maybe... But not as he was during MK1-3.

He's still a movie star. Movie stars are supposed to be Hollywood-like because they ARE Hollywood.

Ryan Gosling is a movie star. So what?
Johnny Cage is more like Sean William Scott on roids.

you missed my point, you want cage to change, but to use an example against him you had to use a very long duration of time. Meaning your example isn't a good one because you used a long duration of time as a personality changer when that's clearly not the case with Cage.

20 years =/= a few months to a year.

Ironically, MK1 and MK4 happen within the same time frame, yet that didn't keep them from making Cage a y badass in one and a total jackoff in the other.

I absolutely adore the new art direction of MKX! the atmosphere is perfect. the character designs are fantastic. I hope that if they do indeed do a movie it follows the new direction of MKX. Truly was awestruck when i first viewed the announcement trailer. It was as if someone had tapped into my brain and lifted the images out of it. This MK looks perfect. so long as the light hearted nature of part 9 is curbed i think this will be the MK we ( or at least "I") have always envisioned. The Music was a bit of a new direction, but i actually liked it. Iwould have liked it more if they just played the instrumentals, but I think Hip-hop is a decent fit. If you ever listened to Wu-tang clan or other 90's rap groups MK was actually referenced a lot and has a pertty solid following in the hip-hop and urban community. All in all I think the tone is perfect and i can't wait to see more this upcoming week. Thank you Ed Boon and NRS for making this MK fan's dream a reality.

I'd want MK to have the tone similar to Thrill Kill, Manhunt, and some BDSM videos I watch that'd involve torturing guys.

I'd rather see the female characters wear something that represents them in a way rather than worry about a character who's humor comes from farting. I'm tired of certain female characters wearing outfits that makes them look like the complete opposite of who they're supposed to represent. If this is to be a darker tone, then make everyone look serious enough to where they can be respected in that kind of manner. If the females HAVE to wear something skimpy, let it be an alternate or something, not their primary outfits. I'd rather that be something to unlock than having it immediately at the start.

Besides, I like Bo Rai' Cho, fart humor and all. I don't really care for toilet humor, but it's just a weird thing to see in a Mortal Kombat game that's actually kinda funny.

I get that there isn't a 20 year gap between MK3 and 4. My example of the 20 year gap was used strictly as a thought for Tarkatan to ponder considering he has a bizarre view on how humans work. What I did say in regards to Johnny was that he realistically should not be the same person he was in the original three. The events of those games would change anybody, especially someone as shallow and narcissistic as Johnny.

He's still a movie star. Movie stars are supposed to be Hollywood-like because they ARE Hollywood.

Not when the entire planet is being invaded by another world. You think Britney Spears will just sit on her a** demanding cold beverages and worrying about how the invasion will effect her career? Probably not. That takes a special kind of d-bag. And that's not Johnny Cage. The Hollywood persona doesn't exist in a setting like that. And by the end of MK9 Johnny was clearing taking things more seriously.

Do you actually think MK will have rap for music?

Look, and MK9 had dubstep. Who knew?

I'm seriously trying to figure out how people don't understand the concept of character growth. If Johnny Cage just stayed a d bag movie star while his friends are getting killed off and he's fighting for his survival, there would be no point to him fighting for anything. He's gotta get more serious at some point and that clearly showed at the end of the last game.

Take Arrow as an example. He went from being a spoiled dbag kid to a hardened badass because of what he went through. Just about every superhero had a transformation like this. If they don't grow as a character, they can't become something greater. Johnny Cage can still have some funny lines but to say that he needs to keep his movie star personality during a time of genocide is idiotic.
