MK9 Characters You Wish Will and Will Not Return In MK10?

Cant Decide if Kratos is finished with MK, He definitely is enjoyable killing everyone! And don't know if Freddy's nightmare is over in Mortal kombat. Keep Both!

I can explain what might happen to Freddy.

Johnny Cage's voice actor in MK9 is Jeff Pilson, the former bassist of 1980s rock n roll hair band Dokken. Coincidentally, Dokken did a song for the Nightmare on Elm Street 3 soundtrack called Dream Warriors (which was played on the ending credits of that same film). To promote the film on MTV, Dokken did a music video for that song where the film's primary protagonist Kristen Parker was rescued by a guitar solo from then-guitarist George Lynch, and the band kicked Freddy Krueger's ass with the power of rock, leading Freddy to wake from his own nightmare and utter the following:

"What a nightmare! Who were those guys?!"

Additionally, Kristen was listening to "Into the Fire" in the film's opening scene. The band who played that song? You guessed it, Dokken! That song was on Dokken's sophomore album, Tooth and Nail. Dream Warriors would be on Dokken's next album after the film, Back for the Attack.

Johnny Cage is a Hollywood movie star, and Freddy Krueger is a character that originated in Hollywood movies.

Put all the pieces together and you're left with only one outcome; Freddy Krueger's reign of terror will come to an end at the hands of Johnny Cage!

Yes:
Sektor- Need to give this guy more games
Human Smoke- That is who he wants to be, and that is where they should advance his story
Nightwolf- Seems to becoming more and more prevelant in the MK stories
Noob- Seeing who he is more and more, and now a big part in the Netherrealm's plans
Jade- Needs more games
Kabal- Don't care which side he is on, along as he is in!
Goro- Give him a go! Hasn't been in too many for an original character
Rain- Probably needs more games
Johnny Cage- MK10 may be different story but he survived end.
Sonya- See above. May also have unfinished business with Kano and other things
Raiden- See above
Evil Liu Kang- Many won't like that. But it is only briefly! Resurrected and wanting revenge on Raiden!
Kung Lao- There to help Raiden save Liu Kang and all other things

No:
Cyrax- Looks like time to give other borgs a go
Shao Kahn- Time for a new villain, Shinnok will be in surely anyway
Shang Tsung- See Shao Kahn
Sub-Zero- Of ANY sort. Again, only for one game. Cameo though for Cyber who needs help finding his soul again

Not too sure on the rest.

Sub-Zero is a bigger icon than Kung Lao, Nightwolf and Kabal put together, so he needs to come back.
Having no Sub-Zero in MK10 is like having Street Fighter without Ken or Ryu.

ALL of the dead characters from MK9. Stop with the "back from the dead" or "no one trully dies in MK" bullshit. For christ's sake they can't come up with ORIGINAL character that aren't just rehashes or reboots??

I would like to see only the "Best" characters from MK4, not everyone.

Tanya and Reiko, Quanchi and Shinnock Maybe Fujin if they can find a way to put him in there that makes sense. Thats it. jarak sucked. Kai sucked.

From a business standpoint, star power trumps originality. People always pay to see the stars, which is why the likes of Sub-Zero, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, etc will be back one way or another.

NRS can create new characters.
I never said anything about them not doing that, but certain iconic series characters need to come back, and Sub-Zero is one of them.
Whether he's part of the story or not or just an unlockable character, Sub-Zero NEEDS to come back.

My point is, people who pay $60 of their hard-earned money on NRS's products are not paying to see B-list characters, they're paying to see the stars.

Scorpion wasn't in MK3. If they continue along the route of "re-writing" previous MK installments then subzero may be omitted from the roster like scorpion was from MK3's.

Sub-zero had a very boring moveset in MK9 he was/ is still my main, but he is incredibly slow for a ninja. I like Sub-zero, but the fact remains he is becoming increasingly more irrelevant and vapid for lack of decent character development. Cyber Sz is a direct result of it. Sub-zero should be retired for a while regardless of how "iconic" he may, or may not be. At least until NRS gets this "Scorpion hard-on" out of their respective systems because frankly they aren't doing him any justice.

Every MK there is/was save for MK9 has introduced a "B-list" of characters, which a majority of you adamantly present argue for and their relevancy in the MK universe.

They killed everyone in MK, let them stay dead. OR at the very least let them return via Unlockables or DlC. But personally I think they need to give us some fresh meat.

MK's roster has always been based off of "bootlegged" ideas from other movies or games. There is plenty of inspiration for them to draw new ideas from I suggest they take that route instead of feeding us the same stuff.

MK9 was great. Now give us a "NEW" MK a story that hasn't been told before that is not contingent on old ideas.

Cyber Sub-Zero was just a waste of space on the select screen.

NRS could have easily combined all the moves of both Sub-Zero and Cyber-Sub Zero into 1 character for MK9, just like they did for Human Sektor and Human Cyrax, and saved that select screen spot for Rain.
It's just a question of some slight animation change-ups for the cyber and human form of the same character.

Cyber Sub Zero was great for people like me who love the IceBoy wonder, but hated his turtle playstyle.

But my question for NRS is "Why didn't they combine IceBoy wonder with the speed of Cyber Sub-Zero, into 1 character, and just give him all the moves of both characters?"

It was done for both versions of human and cyborg Cyrax and Sektor, so why not Sub-Zero too?

Because as far as games are concerned, Sektor was a cyborg before he was a human. So when Human Sektor made his appearance his moveset was molded after the cyborg's. Cyber Sub Zero would have been boring if he was molded after Human Sub. No gadget attacks or teleports.

Not molding cyber after human, but giving all the specials to both characters and making them both just 1 single character on the select screen.

IMO, the Tombstone Teleport from MKvsDC could have also been used for human Sub-Zero in MK9, along with the Ice Parry sword move (also in MKvsDC) and Ice Bombs from CSZ could be Ice Grenades for human Sub-Zero.

It's a simple question of animation, the same way that human Cyrax does a smoke bomb to diappear, while cyber Cyrax explodes into pieces and reforms.

It felt like NRS said, "Let's just divide Sub-Zero in half, and give half of Sub-Zero's moves to human form and half of the moves to the cyber form."

Under Lock and Key was after Tooth and Nail. Back for the Attack was their fourth.

But anywho, I hope everyone who died stays dead. I'd like to see fresh faces in the next game.

I was saying that Back for the Attack was the next album after the movie.

As far as the roster status goes, NRS would be shooting themselves in the foot if certain characters are omitted (even if they died in MK9's story mode), because such characters are the ones MK buyers routinely pay to see.

Liu Kang was not in Deadly Alliance either, much to people's disgust. People don't like Cyber Sub-Zero but the idea is for something different. There are those who don't like changes but I am all for it for storyline development. If SZ is in MK10, keep him as Cyber for one more game to have him rescued and bring his "other" side back would be my preference.
