Yeah but fair doesn't make money.
I really hate to admit this but companies need money. DLC for the bucks.
It truly sucks cause games can truly be good again without DLC but that point in time has passed ever since the current gen consoles (PS3 and Xbox 360) came into play.
Could you imagine paying 20 dollars for more costumes or cheat codes during the PS2 era? That would be flipping outrageous.
Fair can very well make money.
Look at MK9.
A rebooted franchise with
27 Mortal Kombat characters (25 of them being from the MK1 thru UMK3 era).
KI can't do the same with
15 characters (11 from KI1, and 4 from KI2)?
I'm not saying that they can't do DLC and make it good (look at Skarlet from MK9), but charging for characters that should be on the main roster is bullshit.
Not only that, but it doesn't make sense.
Considering that the whole rest of the roster would cost $5 per character, it would equal to about the same price.
There are supposedly 7 characters confirmed, thus far.
Selling the 4 remaining KI1 characters at the price of $5 each, would = $20.
$20 + the $40 that they are planning on selling the game for, would = $60.
Why not just give the people a completed game?
Paying $20 for costumes TODAY is asinine and outrageous, IMO.
I understand additional DLC characters that weren't planned for the main roster being $5, but at least make a complete roster.
Could you imagine if NRS rebooted the MK series as MK1 with only the original 7 characters on the screen?
Sure, I would have loved to have seen MK1 with today's graphics, but A LOT of people would have felt cheated, especially since the previous game (MKvsDCU) has 22 selectable characters in it (if you count Shao Kahn and Darkseid), and the game before that (Armageddon) had 60+ selectable characters in it.
