PC version of Mortal Kombat 9...

It's a valve test app...I've seen plenty of those before. Steam is not taking pre-orders = nothing on Steam.

You're right but testing achievements with finished artwork is not exactly an early development process. The possibility of a release from this state is 99.99%, never heard of a game that was not released after this, recent example being Brutal Legend that was originally released on consoles in 2008, one day achievements popped up on Steam and it came out this year 1-2 months after that. :) It can happen and it will happen.

So current state of affairs to sum up:
- it's not officially announced
- it's in development
- it's in the system of Steam
- will be announced shortly
= it's happening, we just don't know when.

So in the past having that kind of info in the steam page means a game is getting released? i really hope this happens

Yeah me too. I wouldn't count on anything happening in the very near future though, I think we can only expect an announcement after the release of Injustice. So here's hoping for an early Summer release of MK9 PC.

I hope it comes to PC too. I play on Xbox360 with a wireless microsoft keyboard (Xim Edge Adapter) and i can say that making combos with keyboard is really excelent. With controller i miss lots of combos actually but on keyboard i never. Old MK's was also the same for me. I don't understand that why people complains to play fighters with keyboard. I'll never connect my xbox controller to PC if it comes :)

What's interesting to me about the steam test app entry is it has all the achievements in it. That to me makes it seem more likely that it's real and not fake.

I don't think that there is a mistake in this steam app entry. Because i have not seen any game that never released which was in steam app site before.

It would be really cool if the game can get a pc version ,I would give it try, seeing as how I have never played a fighting on pc lol.

Because fighters are not made for the pc....

Basically these days PC could be the best platform for gaming because of one thing: the number of options available to you. Compared to consoles there's a ridiculous amount of customization you can do with your gaming experience. You can use keyboard + mouse or any kind of controller you want (Xbox 360 and PS3 included), you can play on a monitor or on a TV and there are plenty of options you can fine tune in a game itself or use some great mods if you please. I played on consoles back in the day but after I've switched to a gaming PC I never looked back because of this, freedom is a great thing if you know what you're doing and how to do it.

The other thing I'd recommend owning a PC for is less complicated and more to the point: Starcraft 2.:D That game has a big negative thing though: after you've experienced it you'll realize that there's nothing similar or better on the market and you'll become sad. It's a feeling that's a bit like playing the Witcher 2 on PC: I can't help it but every game just looks ugly after that one, even the games that were shown for PS4 are meh compared to W2, it's just sad.

You sir, are an prime example of a PC elitist. Not everyone has the money to fork out a super powered gaming machine. Personally, I like the way graphics look. Heck, I go back and play my PS2 just because one of my favorite games of all time is on it. You can keep your expensive crap, I'm satisfied with console gaming.

But that's not the point. You completely missed the point of my statement. People don't buy a fighting game to sit in front of a computer screen by themselves. Fighters were made to be played with a joystick, not a mouse and keyboard. NRS knew most people would not play the game on PC, since the developing for a M&K would not bring in the profits they would need. If I played a fighter on the PC, I would get lost just looking at the keyboard even after remembering what button does what.

Actualy i can agree with you that powerful PC can be really expensive but if you can't play fighters with keyboard thats only your problem. Since 1995 i play Super street fighter 2, MK2, MK3, MK Trilogy, MK4 etc.. and i'm almost invincible with keyboard, i can play with my both eyes closed also :) . In X360 i hook my keyboard (with xim edge) and i play always in this way because of crappy D-Pad on Xbox controller. (Controller is perfect but D-Pad is a mess). But anyway, i'm happy with console gaming too because most of the games that i like will be never released to PC. Gears of War, God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Uncharted, Last of Us. Also consoles has a sharp stabilization when PC's has not. Anyway, MK9 PC will be a first day purchase for me even i have it already on X360.

I'm not an elitist by any stretch of the imagination and actually graphics doesn't really matter that much for me. For example here's the PC game I play now and enjoying the hell out of it:

Yeas, it's Alone in the Dark from 1992 and I'm having a great time, it's a true classic and actually this French title created the survival horror genre. I love the oldies and actually that's an other reason why I like my PC: you have emulators for old games (so I can also play PS2 titles these days because we have a very high quality PS2 emulator). I don't always use my mouse + keyboard, for example I play Street Fighter 4 with an Xbox 360 controller which most console ports use as a default input device so I don't even neeed to configure anything for it work.

I don't have a super gaming PC, I usually buy a computer that is at the top of the mid-range and you'll never need a better rig than that. They are not that expensive and overall I spend much less money on a game than I would spend if I'd own a console. PC games are generally cheaper and I usually don't buy games day 1 (MK9 will be an exception though :D).

As for playing games alone I have to say I generally prefer the single player experience. This is not true for Street Fighter 4, I play a lot of games online there and if I want the classic player1-player2 experience on a fighting games it can be done: you can connect up to 4 360 controllers to a PC and even if you don't have multiple controllers a keyboard has more than hundred buttons on it so PC ports of fighting games always have 2 different keyboard layouts on the left and right side of the keyboard for the two players. Fighting games actually can handle pretty well on a keyboard anyway, all you need is a bit of practice and if you use a computer regularly for typing you won't really miss a button. I don't like that and a controller works better for me but you'd be surprised what people can do with a keyboard.

As for sitting close to a monitor: it's a non-issue these days. There's already a thing called wireless HDMI which will become more and more common and you can connect your PC to a HD TV with it wirelessly. Also as for myself I have a fairly big monitor (24") so I don't have to sit close to my machine: I have a great little computer desk that allows me to sit far from the monitor and if I use my controller I can just lay back and enjoy a games just like on a console because as I've said a PC has a large number of options available to you.

The other reason I stayed with a PC is because of specific genres: Real Time Strategy or Turn Based Strategy games don't work well with a console, for example Starcraft 2 would be simply uncontrollable with a controller without drastically changing the classic RTS experience and you need to sit closer to the screen because of the precision it needs. I also really enjoy TBS games like the Heroes of Might & Magic series and those also don't exist on a console sadly. The only TBS I can think of that's really good and works great on a console is least year's XCOM, the console UI is a masterpiece in the game and I still can't imagine how Firaxis could pull that off so well.

...Consoles cannot be compared to PC anymore, not the last generation at least. The hardware differences are far too obvious.

Regarding the cost. Watch this:

£300/$435

And is better than a console.

Just registered to post how much I'd love a PC version. Please NetherRealm put this on PC. I honestly believe you'd invigorate the PC fighting game crowd with this and have the potential to make a lot of fans happy, and a lot of NetherRealm employee's money.
