Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I had to rotate the hips a little more to separate the thighs.

Things bothering me now are the vest moving a little fast in the middle, and the hips are tilting too much.

I don't know if it's just me or is his gi a little too shiny like it's made of some kind of silk?

I think you may be right about the hips after looking at it for a while it almost looks like he's dancing. :)
 
Interloko are you cool with making a scaled version of how big the character should be rendered to be used as a template for Bleed?
sure. i resize the image from 400x254 to 1134x720
i added the black bars to show it at 1280x720, the actual screen size

The costume looks shiny, because of the lights. I have the gloss on it set to 0, so it's all because of the lights. That's part of why I like the old lighting more, too many details look forced or washed out now.

Niceeeee.... the details on scorpions mask and the pants are definitely brought out by the lighting. And the skin is well done too.... rendering skin can be a pain at times, lol.

Have you tried applying fall off map to the diffuse? It should give you the rim lighting you want without over exposing or making shiny the other areas.

I know this was said about a thousand times, and I may have even posted it previously, but I'll say it again, your work is phenominal, and everyone else working on this is doing an amazing work, I give you guys so much credit for going balls out and doing this.
 
IMO it's perfect. don't need to change anything in the animation.

Agree. I stared at it for like 5 minutes. I don't see dancing. It's a very natural hip movement given how the legs are crossing over.

Beautiful work. I'd move onto the next animation. Maybe Flip forward/Backwards?

Edit: Btw, you are moving at the speed of light on this. It's happening way faster than I predicted it would.
 
I have another render coming, a few more tweaks.

I can move on to the next animation if we are ok on this. The jump then, or something else?

Great job as usual. I think his right hand (forearm in the air) should be just a little bit lower,
he kinda looks like he's fist-pumping now (:

edit: just noticed the original sprite is moving too fast

Going by the original sprite it seems about right to me. I like how the upper body on the new one is more animated than in the original sprite where the upper body is static. The older one looks like they copied and pasted the upper body from another sprite and doesn't look as natural and is not as seamless. Probably because they where trying to take some shortcuts during colorization of the mostly black and white source video tapes.

In the original sprite if you stare at it enough it looks like the lower body could run away without the upper body like a scene in the show Red Dwarf where the hologram's legs run off by themselves and his upper body stays floating in place.

maybe you can move the elbow a bit down, rotate a bit the shoulder and rotate the forearm to match the position

next jump animation is ok. maybe duck too

Edit: the size is close to match the scaled char but still bigger

You're doing great work, but if you're constantly remedying everyone's concerns it will never be completed. At the end of the day, everyone here would love to play an MK game that looks like this and no one would care about all of these nitpicks.
 
the animation look awesome. i noticed the character now is smaller than the scaled one. if you choose to keep this size is ok too i think.
