No way! Jason IS coming. They ARE going to release him at Halloween cuz the whole set up has a Jason vs Freddy vibe all over it, and you know Boon & Co dig stuff like that, anyway coming or not... MK STAYS THE BOMB, guests or not

Since WB owns the Friday The 13th License as well I think its a safe bet that Jason will make it into the game in the future. It would make sense also as Freddy and Jason have had a rivalry for years and even got a movie (Freddy vs. Jason)

Everyone complaining is a bunch of pussie nerds. I've been a mk fan since 1991 and I have no problem with Freddy. If you don't like him don't download him and shut up. Some of us horror fans are going to love this. I'm sure if they put in some final fantasy character all if these nerds complaining would be pulling out their weiners and going crazy. All you purist nerds need to shut up.

The truth: If the character is A: A killer B: Famous C: (important note) FICTIVE! That's why we will never have chars like Dahmer, Dutroux, Bundy etc in games (thank God) D: Well designed E: Used to gore and blood F: Has a gimmick (alien, supernatural, invincible etc.) and G: Has a huge fanbase... he or she is currently a possible canditate for MK. Can't argue about that at the moment, who knows what NRS are thinking right now. Did you see Freddy comin' for DLC, I sure didn't. But I thank NRS for doing it
Horror movie buff, MK purist, and no guest characters of any kind belong. MK has plenty of its own characters that could be released instead.

Ya they already had Skarlet, Kenshi, Rain, and yes even Freddy planned months in advance.....Any character we asked for such as Reiko, Tanya, Havik, Fujin, Tremor etc. for MK9 dlc was really just us campaigning for these characters to be in MK10. That's the only silver lining to all this UCFReiko.....
To all the people who are saying "Well if you don't like him dont download Freddy" Yes I know that and you can count on me not downlading him even though I have the season pass. It's not that that pisses me off its the fact that he may be the last DLC for MK9. I don't want my MK games to turn into a big gimmick again. I thought this was supposed to take us back to the glory days of 2D. That's the era I remember and in that era there was no d*** guest characters who didnt belong in the game....That's all I'm saying.

I don't get how people with the Kombat Pass or whatever it's called aren't going to DL Freddy even though it won't cost them anything. Lol, it's kinda pathetic how many "diehard" MK fans are so salty over this.

Haha well my reasons simple I dont even want to look at Freddy on my selection screen. In my world there was only 3 DLC characters...Besides it's not about what cost what it's the fact I don't want him in my MK game.

Some people may feel that way because there is so much emphasis on story in the MK franchise. I know other fighting game franchises do attach a story to their games, but I don't think anyone cares about it to the extent that MK fans do.
Some of it may boil down to the fact that MK games have included Konquest Modes, Story Modes and whole spin-off titles dedicated to telling its own story. I think the first MK movie was the most successful movie based on a fighting game.
If the story is this big a factor for fans, people take it seriously, and don't see a need for it to be "polluted" by characters or elements from other franchises. It will make some people think "How the hell does Freddy Krueger fit into all this?"
This doesn't just apply to Mortal Kombat, though. The U.S.S. Enterprise taking on the Death Star may be a cool-looking fight, but Captain Kirk would look very silly if he were told "These aren't the Droids you're looking for. Move along." You can't take it seriously.

One guest doesn't ruin a whole game.
It's just certain fans have to have the characters they want, the gameplay type they want, the modes they want, and that's that. If something going into the game isn't what they want, they feel it's not even allowed to exist, period. They don't care what other's input is, only theirs counts.

I could understand that if we were talking about something with a legitimately well done story, but we're talking about MK here...not Final Fantasy. MK has always been SyFy Channel caliber stuff. Fighting games have always been about some crazy story tying things together often incoherently. Freddy's backstory really isn't any better or worse than the vast majority of existing MK fighters' stories. I mean c'mon, Johnny Cage's story has him entering the tournament to prove to movie critics that he does his own martial arts stunts in his films. Lol.
