Re: Lag Issues One Sided?

No, if it lags it lags for both people. If they complain about lag and it wasn't laggy, they are lying.

I normally never lag but when I try to play with BBBLP our connections don't like eachother and we lag like crazy. It's much improved since the patch, but it's still bad.

PS: We need to have another go at battling cyborgs, but with MK3.

Yes this ^ it lags for both players

Re: Lag Issues One Sided?

Apparently it's one-sided.
I've had a few matches where it was laggy as hell, to the point I told the other person "GG despite the horrible lag" after just 1 fight just to get a reply from them saying "No lag here, super smooth."

Re: Lag Issues One Sided?

Yah I can confirm its one sided ... I've had laggy matches, while the other player(s) had them smooth ... Some even added me to kick my @$$ over again, but I don't really mind :p

On a side note: Why is it that every connection I see is full green? ... I've never come across anything less than full, yet many matches were unstable ... Anyone else noticed the same? ... Is it because all connections are fast and stable (no chance in Hell)? Or is the netcode THAT bad that it can't properly analyze a connection?

does anyone lag?

srry to be noobish, but ive only had my ps3 for a few months, but whenever i play online, i get mad lag, and so are all of my friends, but the lag is only for mortal kombat online play.

anyone get the same lag? anyone know why?

Re: does anyone lag?

I can't speak for PS3 users but it used to be unplayable for me on the Xbox before they released the patch. Now online plays really well.

Re: does anyone lag?

what other games do you play?

generally fighting games have always had more of a issue with lag as the games much more important on a fractino of a second basis then say a shooter or rpg. you end up noticing it more because those fractions of a second are more important.

im certain shooters have just as much lag, its just easier to compensate for and harder to notice.

Re: does anyone lag?

I mostly play FPS and fighting games and agree with what you said there, It's more noticeable on fighting games.

So, How do you handle the lag?

I want to know how do people adapt and, handle the lag. I know on PSN when the fight starts theirs a one sec delay before you can actually move. Some combo's become difficult to pull off (Although to be honest I haven't had not one problem with any Kitana combo.) a example would be Johnny Cage's f4~2,2,2,2,2,2,2~44 *nut crusher* combo while in the corner. Another combo is following up with b3 after Johnny's X-Ray, so I find myself using shadow kick instead.

So what are your difficulties? How do you handle them?

Re: So, How do you handle the lag?

you have to make the transition from being a reactive player to a predictive one. with the lag, no matter how good they make the netcode you will always have some input delay. as such there will be times where its simply impossible to react to certain moves.

as such you must because a predictive player, reading opponents, forcing them into habits that you can punish, etc. only then will the lag not cause such problems for you.

Dude, just adapt. Instead of relying on the combos that don't work, try using normal strategies like uppercuts, jump kicks(get it first)sweeps, and grapples.

Or the simplest of combos. Like his 1-1-1 combo or his 1-5-2 combo.

Re: So, How do you handle the lag?

Yeah honestly, if you have very timing-strict combos that you can't consistently pull off with the lag, you're probably better off going with shorter (i.e. less damaging) combos that you can actually land consistently.

Re: So, How do you handle the lag?

i honestly have trouble doing short strings online, let alone full combos. maybe its just me rushing the inputs.

That was my problem at first. Go into training mode and work on your muscle memory. Get your BnB combos to the point where you can do them with your eyes closed (literally, do them with your eyes closed), and then take it back online. If your fingers know exactly what to do and when to do it, you'll have a much easier time doing combos online.

Couldn't have said it any better.

Simplest combos? Ha that's horriable advice. All the lag unless its like 5 sec delay should hurt you so much. I live in texas and have played people in eu with good result. Adapt adapt adapt. Much better advice that simple combos. Please. I play 16 some odd characters and can break many a opponent online.

Re: So, How do you handle the lag?

I dont, I prefer to play offline, lagless without input delay, and without having to deal with 5 scorpions in a row.

Re: So, How do you handle the lag?

Mmm, sometimes when i play online, in the first round i try to figure out what's the time of the input delay. Then I have no problems to do short or long kombo strings. Sometimes, specifics kombos doesn't work (like 35% Mileena or 40% Tsung, both of them without using any bar) but I'm fine about, if the lags affects me, so my opponent is also affected (at least, a bit).

btw, I hate Scorpions online. Didn't they know that catching you with the spear they drain off about 36% or 40% of your life. But noo, the only thing they do is the 111, 111, 111, 111, spear, 111, 111, D,B,4, 111,111, ... **** that.
