I saw it like 30 mins ago, no battle, they said this serie was only 9 episodes long (first said 10, then cut off to 9) and there are only 6 left and we practically didnt see anything.
Anyway i gotta say that Johnny's episode was the best one IMO.
 
This season is supposed to be about the origins, while the planned 2nd season is about the tournament where all that the fighting happens like in the games.
 
The 4th episode was the worst so far. Pretty boring and too short. And I hope there's a really, and I mean, REALLY good reason why Shao Kahn isn't wearing his skull mask and helmet.
I'm also dissapointed with the lack of blood and gore. They should have followed MK Rebirth.
 
Wow, Baraka looked like shit. And why are they all of a sudden throwing animated comics into the mix? Strange.

I didn't care for the style of that episode at all, but hopefully part two goes a bit better. It's kind of a bummer; I was looking forward to this.

i agree.

i do like this series, but i would much rather they just made a movie based on rebirth... i could just imagine watching it in a cinema, it would go off!!

and out of the episodes so far, i liked the jax/sonya/kano ones (first two), then johnny cages one, but this one was terrible. they should have showed less cartoons and more live action... they just got lazy
 
I believe the reason for the anime is because of the budget.... You have to cast two young girls that look a like to fight and one needs to have Baraka teeth. It is cheaper to do the anime... I think that this is a great build up... But I do agree with most that it was not the best one... I love the Cage one... I also do agree with dojmin about Shao Kahn having no mask that was very disappointing. And yes Baraka looked terrible as well.... the MK Rebirth Baraka looked way better and he looked nothing like baraka.... i thought until I saw this episode.... They really missed with him.
 
While thing would be better suited euro anime style like aeon flux. Could get a lot more done. Never the less i like these they will just make no sense together on a dvd like they plan. Unless there is some major editing.

MK Rebirth Baraka was terrible. Sure, this Baraka isn't completely 100% out of the game, but at least the character is there. Sure, they could do a better job with a better budget, but with what they had, they did a pretty good job.

But I'd expect better with a better budget.

And I think it's safe to say any offshoot of Rebirth will never see the light of day. Obviously, WB doesn't approve of it, as it barely mirrors the property they paid for.
 
Damn, Shao Kahn got turned into a *****.

"I want to feel loved! Shang Tsung, make a clone of Kitana so that I can finally have someone to hold me when I have ouchies!" :laugh:

I do like the change to the backstory of the relationships between Kitana, Mileena, Sindel, and Shao Kahn. Just wish these episodes were longer though...
 
The series has been pretty good up till this point imho but this episode was just underwhelming, and I'm trying to be modest with that. Baraka and the Tarkatans looked poorly done at best.

And that was our Shao Khan?! Color me unimpressed. Kitana and Mileena's debut deserved better than this Killbill style cartoon rubbish.

I agree 100% and I'm glad Rebirth is dead and gone....The concept didnt even make since for what it is

How realistic is it that...

1. A plastic surgeon can mutilate himself in automatically become a black belt?

2. That Reptile lived 30 years past the life expectancy of that disease and has the strength to be a serial killer cannibal?

3. That eyeless Yakuza can use their ninja powers to escape from prison?

4. That an actor with a dying career would go undercover fighting deranged freaks when he could just look for better roles and better scripts?

5. That they would even need someone to go undercover for evidence against Baraka when the weapons are on his fricking wrist?

6. That Jax and Sonya would want to make someone participate in a tournament when in reality they could do a petty little thing called arrest them or use their guns and shoot them all down.

Some might try to say that it's more believable than MK's story but when you put something in a supposed realistic settings breaks from reality arent excusable because it takes away the credibility of the so called realism. A fantasy story is fantasy so it having "unrealistic" characters isnt a problem
 
I waited a whole week for that? WORST episode yet imo in terms of my enjoyability. It wasnt bad it was just... boring, nothing happened. I already know about the whole backstory between Khan, Kitana, Mileena and Sindel but I guess there are a lot of people out there that dont. I was excited cause I wanted to see the women throw down. Oh well I guess one more weeks wait isnt that bad

4. Kitana, Mileena Part 1
 
Man I feel 100% alone. I loved how they showed off Mileena's teeth when she was a baby. I like the scenery in this one the best. I have to say I even liked Baraka and the Tarkatan. Next week will see more fighting hopefully.

I agree with you, except that I didn't like Baraka and the Tarkatans. And the episode ended abruptly. Besides that, it was a good episode.
 
Didn't think they portrayed shao khan as much of a badass tyrant as he is supposed to be and I just feel this episode shows the extreme lack of budget and time they needed to squeeze in a story. Liked mileena's teeth as a baby and the relationship she had with kitana but that was about it.
