No its not supposed to be serious, Tancharoen has stated many times that Legacy is not a follow up to Rebirth.

He could have done better with Baraka!!! I liked the rebirth Baraka a hell of a lot better... but I wanna see what he does with him in the story line because series is good so far I hope that he does not start to disappoint and start making it weak with terrible make up... He in my opinion has casted well for Cage, Sonya, definitely JAX, Kano and im not sure if I like Shang Tsung and Striker but he has stayed close to the game looks which I give major props to!!! But I hope that he doesn't put Baraka out like that... if anything go back and do a dread head Baraka lol not a lord of the rings look a like lol...

They definitely got Jax perfect. Could've cast a better Sonya/Stryker/Shang tsung. Johnny cage was alright, but wasn't coc ky enough. Baraka is terrible, and after seeing Kano in the original 1995 movie, it makes the current Kano look not so great lol (don't get me wrong, he is pretty damn good, but you should've seen the original films Kano)
