This.

I'll never understand this "you won by spamming so you have no skill" argument. What does it say about your skill if I'm able to beat you with only one move?

Improve your defense, learn to block, and learn to counter.
I agree with you unless you are using Raiden. Then I spit on your face lol.

I do think spamming is a legit albeit boring tactic. I mean why stop doing something if it works right? In SSF4 I just keep using throws if I see my opponent sucks at teching. And I keep using overheads if he just feels like turtling. Not my fault if he's too dumb to stand block.

Nothing annoys me more than someone who hangs back and blocks throughout the entire match. I want a fight god damnit!

And I want to win. And if I get that win by hanging back the entire match and blocking, then I'll do it without any qualms or hesitation.

Every strategy and tactic has a counter, and until you learn that counter, I'll keep doing what works.

Haha. MKDC raiden was worse.

For me it's not boring at all though. I acutally enjoy playing against cheap tacitcs and trying to find ways to beat them. It makes it a bit more interesting for me I guess.

heres is the thing... you ARENT going to win because I know how to play against noobs like you. I can easily get the win but I hate boring fights. I want a good back and forth fight... not be chipping away at someone the entire match cause they just hang back and block

Did I say it was the only thing I do?

If it works, I'll do it, if it doesn't work I'll do something else. Depending on the opponent, character and player, some tactics are easier to win with then other tactics. But you need to be flexible and adapt to what your opponent is doing and what is giving him trouble and what is giving you trouble.

There is no such thing as a good or a bad win. There is only a win.

That says a lot about you though. I bet you are a pretty salty sore loser. :)

I disagree with that. I don't want to win because of luck (50/50 guessing games) or because of lag, I want to win because of my superior skills. And I find no interest in spamming personally.

If I play a clearly inferior player then I'll just troll him for lolz (like only use jabs, throw or sweeps) but I usually don't like to spam. I didn't train so hard with Stryker and Mileena just to spam the same move over and over again. I would play MvC3 if I was like that.

Again, how does that say anything about how I accept losing?

You learn more from losing than you do in winning. You learn what you need to work on and what doesn't work that you tried. You gain nothing from playing inferior people or even playing online in most cases.

Why would someone STOP spamming moves if your not blocking? I play subZ & Raiden, and your damn right I will spam clone and work my way in or spam superman/teleport if YOU leave it open.

The combo I usually go for is Ermac's telekinetic bounce, jump kick, teleport, dash, backpunch, backpunch, telekinetic choke, does 30 something percent and is fairly easy. And almost everyone I've played has just been jumping all over the place, so that initial special move is easy to land.

I did take the piss a bit after a few of these messages, one guy I just dashed in and sweeped, managed that about 5 times before he blocked low. Another Mileena I just pinned in the corner and did telekinetic choke as she woke up and they had no answer to it. It's not that the players aren't great, it's just that they have no desire to learn, and if you win through tactics that they can't copy or easily beat, they flip out and get abusive.

And to those that agree with the "You spam, therefore you aren't playing properly" philosophy. You're pretty ignorant, I got a game with a few people who were actually bright enough to block my combo starting specials, and funnily enough, my strategy became a bit more complex, it was refreshing. I had to think! They didn't throw out unsafe moves for no reason, they did combo's, they didn't waste their x-ray the second they got it.

Point is, if somebody beats you with a repetitive strategy. Realise that it's repetitive, and beat it. Rock paper scissors, no one move is unbeatable.

Spamming is pretty cheap, which is why they complain. But if you mix combos it is a useful tactic. Besides, as you said, most spamming can be stopped by blocking; no block, spam it up, in which case, yes it is the complainers fault for not blocking.

Do what you have to to win. If people don't counter it and it works, do it. It may seem cheap, but if it works might as well take advantage of the person not countering your tactic.

It's game. Every move has a counter.

If your opponent doesn't know the counter, his fault and not yours.

If there was an unfair move, NRS would patch it in an update.

Having said that, I think it's bad form to double flawless someone who doesn't know how to stop you. If you are destroying someone, mix it up a bit. Let them get a few hits in. By all means, go back to your spamming to win the fight, but at least let the other player have some time to learn.

And if you have real honor and a headset, you can always explain to your opponent how to counter your attack. If you are truly better than he is, you will still win.

The real fighting community is about fun and sharing, not just winning at all costs. So yeah, you are kind of a jerk to spam someone when they obviously don't know how to stop you. However, if you are playing a ranked match, it actually is completely fair to do.

Having said that, the appropriate response is to simply not accept a rematch, not to quit or try to send angry messages.

Haha, a jerk? You think that guy is going to have any mercy if for some reason I can't block his repetitive jump in kick uppercut?

I'd be more than happy to give somebody new to fighters some pointers, a handful of quick tips would probably hugely improve their game, but nobody wants to listen.

They'll stick with "You're being lame!" as opposed to thinking "This guy is crushing me, what can I learn from this?"

Also, I think the furthest honor stretches in fighting games is picking a low-tier character :P

Spammers are annoying. Not because they are hard to beat, but because they make the match boring as hell. Sure, its funny the first time someone continually uses teleports to beat you (and fails epically), but it gets extremely boring the next thousand times because your opponent(s) have failed to realize that teleporting all the time isn't going to work. How the hell are they having fun by using the same move over and over again?

I think it's worth it on those rare occasions where you basically see evolution happen right infront of you, where the opponent thinks "Holy shit, doing teleports over and over again isn't working!? Is there more to this game?!"

I remember watching a SF game where it's 2 Ken's doing nothing but wakeup-fierce shoryuken. And then suddenly, one starts blocking and the commentatary shouts "It's learning!"

Honestly, one of them would have to come out and tell us.. I assume it's akin to the same way stupid ***** ass campers have fun in fps'. It's not a legit strategy, it's just you being a pussy.
