MK HD Kollection

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Newegg.com, one of the last few retailers to still show an 11/16 release date for MK HD Kollection has updated their page.

lol, not liking the sound of that at all. Kind of goes along with the Gamestop phone calls to the preorder customers. I'm still optimistic this game gets made eventually, but things like this do not look good at all.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

If it's not real, don't expect any answer...they're gonna ride that free hype all the way to MK9.

I think were forgetting that there isn't as much hype about this game that one would believe form reading this board. Go ask a casual MK player about this game, odds are they don't even know it exsist. The only people with knowledge about MKHD are the hardcore fans who will buy MK9 the day it comes out.

I tend to disagree. MK is definitely not confined to solely TRMK, or the other dedicated MK sites like Ultimatemk, classicmk, or testyourmight. There is now a forum on SRK for MK as well, not to mention that all 4 sites I just mentioned posted the news that was posted on TRMK first prominently on their news pages. SRK is, arguably, the largest fighting game website on the internet, with thousands of people visiting daily, not to mention people lurking all the time, and they had the posted release date with pic from gamestop on their main news page.

Many more people than just the "hardcore" MK fanbase knew about MKHD.

Also take into account that UMK3 has taken HUGE step into prominence in the last 2 years with it becoming a headline tournament at such major events like East Coast Throwdown 1 & 2, Annually at NEC, Winter Brawl, and Summer Jam, as well as annually at Season's Beatings, not to mention locals like Columbus Bar Battles.

All these tournaments see UMK3 get streamed at the bare minimum for the Winner's Final, Loser's Final and Grand Final, and Season's Beatings Redemption streamed the entire top 8.

MK has garnered a large amount of interest lately and I'm sure that anyone who is looking forward to MK9 certainly knew about MKHD supposedly having a pack in demo of MK9.

The facts are all there... this is a huge fail by them to let this fall by the wayside, and again, if the game is not real, they are going to ride the free hype all the way to MK9.

Sadly, I also feel that this is how it will turn out.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

I don't understand... Amazon.fr listed the game as available and they have it in stock. They probably forgot to update the info on the website and when the counter ended it probably switched to available.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Amazon just changed the release date to January 31th 2011 ...

@humansmoke44 if it was an error, retailers would not change the release dates, and I doubt so many retailers did the same mistake & ignored the letter, the probability is too low.

Strange, see above..last week they changed it to january 2011 and now they have it on stock. Must be a mistake.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

The thing I find very strange about all the post 11/16 retail listings that we're seeing is that they all seem to have different release dates, Amazon Fr. says 1/31/11, another Euro site says 12/17/10, and blockbuster is showing available for rental 3/2/11, does'nt this show that there are issues with the very sources these stores are getting their info from?

Yes, but the 1/31 could be your usual "end of the month", "we don't know the real date" strategy lots of online sites implement. I believe IGN and/or Gamespot do this. They pick the last day of a month to use as their "release date" when they aren't entirely sure (or if an official one hasn't been chosen yet). Amazon currently has MK9 and Twisted Metal (for PS3) listed for a release of 12/31/2011. Obviously (well, hopefully), that's not correct. Blockbuster usually will make games available to rent via mail several months after release. Remember, they initially had MK HD Kollection listed for a purchase release of 11/16 and the rent date was still 3/2.

I'm really curious, though, about the 12/17 date. Still might be a little unrealistic with no official word from WB, but damn wouldn't that be great to get it before the end of the year?

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Makes perfect sense to me to bundle it together in an MK9 Collector's Edition.

Especially with as many old school MK fans (myself included) more interested in MKHD because we are so skeptical of just how good(bad)MK9 will be, why not kill 2 birds with one stone. To be honest, I'd have no problem purchasing an MK9 Collector's Edition if it came with MKHD AND MKHD doesn't suck lol.

I'd really like to play the HD Kollection prior to MK9 (mostly just to pass the time). But, at this point, I just really want to play the HD Kollection.... period. I don't know what's going on with it, but I want it to be made. If they decide to bundle it into a Kollector's Edition of MK9, so be it. Just make the damn game, WB! :-p

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Yeah, none of that bundling bullshit unless separate releases are due as well. Didn't like the fact that MK1 was excluded from MAT2 in 2004 to be included in the MKD Collector's Edition and won't like it now.

Incidentally, the emulation of MK1 was better than either MK2 or 3 on MAT2. Not perfect, but quite good.

That's the same reason that I would want the HD Kollection before MK 9.
It would help pass the time between now and March / April 2011.

I'm NOT going to pay FULL price for the HD Kollection, if it comes out AFTER MK 9 is released.

Well, wouldn't that depend on what full price is? I know various sites have displayed a $40 price point, but then again, those same sites said the game would be out last Tuesday.

Also, on a semi-related note, seeing Prince of Persia's release on PSN got me thinking: what if the MK HD Kollection was released in a similiar manner? If you're not familiar with how PoP is being released, basically, while it was rumored to be a collection of the 3 previous games in the series (like MK), they ended up releasing the games on PSN separately (i.e. not a 3-in-1 bundle).

So, let's just say that down the line WB releases the HD Kollection, but makes MK 1 HD, MK 2 HD and UMK3 HD available on PSN for, say, $15 each. Good? Bad? I personally would be pissed, but probably end up buying each one eventually. I know I've seen where some people are only looking forward to one game or another rather than wanting to see all 3 re-made in HD. For those people, this set up might be ideal. Thoughts?

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Man, I just don't think so. I really am starting to think that it's not going to be released. Plus, I'm not interested in seeing it released in pieces because frankly, I think all 3 are only worth about 25 bucks total.

I agree. When I first heard about it, I figured it'd be priced in the $15-$25 range. All three games included, I don't think the price should ever go over $30. Now don't get me wrong, had it been released last Tuesday, I had $40 set aside and was prepared to hand it over. At this point, with it most likely being delayed until next year at the earliest, I don't believe I can justify that price tag any more.

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

Those dates were either wrong or it was most likely delayed.I mean with all the info we have gotten its safe to say it exists. When you think about it would the 16th have been a good date to release the collection? I mean everyone here is hardcore fans and would say yes but realistically if they have redone the visuals and added online it wouldn't be the best strategy to release this game a week after Call of Duty which currently takes up the majority of online play right now and a week before the new Assassins Creed game which now features online multiplayer.Assuming it is a PS3 only game a title like this could get lost in the shuffle.

Another thing that I have been thinking about is the fact that Gametrailers visited NetherRealms and if it is coming around December 17th well the VGA awards are on December 11th and Geoff Keighley has already been hinted at a ton of exclusive reveals.I mean maybe you never know and if it is coming December 17th having a good debut on TV a week before will certainly get the hype train going and it gives it time to get out of the launch bracket of Call of Duty and others.I have no doubt it's coming but its a matter of when.
