Nah that's not really a problem per se. I mean they never confirmed an actual canon ending. In fact they never do and it always ends up being some mix of all of them.
What I think about the idea is another thing though XD

Haha well I'd like to see them use the idea more because I'm interested in where they'd take it and not really because I think it's the "right" way to go per se. More of a curiosity I suppose.

Anyway I agree with the dude who said fewer characters is better that way stuff wnt get repetitive and each single character will be deeper.
I say keep it to around 22-25 with 3 new chars

From a forum I read before, it might the roster of 32. I just forgot where I read it. So I say 25 of the classic characters + Tanya, Quan Chi, Shinnok, and Nitara + 3 fresh new characters should be in the complete roster or the last 3 can be Sareena, Kia, and Jataaka since they were in MK: Mythologies (before MK4).

You have spoken out my mind about good new females along with other fresh new characters would be even better after most MK1-UMK3 characters, Tanya, Nitara, Shinnok, Quan Chi, Sareena, Kia, and Jataaka.

It's true there is a certain lack of female fighters and I wouldn't have any problem with more being added, as long as they don't all look... Well slutty. In my opinion only Meleena is supposed to look like that.
Anyway as for both Shinnok and Quan Chi being in, it might be cool but only if we don't get both Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung. I think there'd just be too many bad guys for the story to work out properly XD If Shinnok was in I might actually want to see him as a god so we can get to witness his fall more properly and how he became the Shinnok we know.

im shure they could fit the 4 of them in somehow. i kind of thought ashara and kira were crap so im hoping to see good new female characters. from the look of things shao kahn will probably be the boss but im hoping there will be at least a new sub boss.

I think alot of people are getting their hopes up way to much, we all should be happy if we have 3 playable characters and 2 hidden ones j/k
believe me, i bet it will have around 15 plus 3 hidden characters, 2 unplayable cool bosses ( 1 = shao Kahn ) i rather have 17 - 18 amazing, unique, 2 Fatalities, a brutality, and some really awesome pit fatalities, than have 40 + characters.
40 + or 30 + characters, you will have 2 moves per character like in armageddon lmao, well have fun, plus all of the combo's look and feel the same ( this is actually how it all gets boring really quick) I think everyone will be pissed when seeing the roster is probably only 17 or so, but when the game is released, and it will have 17 characters ( playable ) and you FINALY get to play it, i bet you all will be more than pleased lol yes

One of the reasons why MK Armageddon was so unreponsive and uninspired was because there were TOO many characters.. personally I think around 20 or so is nice....

Ok, this isn't bad. I just hope there is more than three fatalities for each character and Create a Fighter must return.

I doubt there will be three, my guess is two. We already know it's at least two since we've seen two different Kung Lao fatalities.

Yeah I think two is enough. My favorite characters better have nasty fatalities as Kung Lao's though.

characters from MK1 - MK3, there's more than a definite possibility Liu Kang, Kitana, Sonya, Jax, Jade,
Kano, Raiden, Shang Tsung, Baraka, Goro, Cyrax, Sindel, Sheeva, Kabal, Rain?, Kintaro?, and not really
sure who else could possibly end up in the roster. I am hoping at least see Tanya somewhere in there,
even though she was in MK4 and not apart of the first three games. Nevertheless, I have a feeling that
some of the characters that don't make it will certainly be available via Downloadable content. HUZZAH!

Yea From MK1-MK3 there were about 23 playable characters not including bosses or sub-bosses
You can probably count shao khan as a playable in this game.
If you like a character from the first 3 MK's, chances are they'll be in this game!
