My MK Games Collection

Re: My MK2 Collection

The emulator wont be perfect speed.

This emu seems to be very good. The VF's, the Capcom fighters play the same as I remember on the Saturn. But its been a couple years.

My buddy, who sent me the emu he found, has the system too and he told me the Saturn version is alot faster than the arcade/rom/Ps3 port.

Re: My MK2 Collection

I'll have to hook up my Saturn version to see if it really feels faster. I'll do it versus the PS1 emulator until I get a good way to play the import PS1 game on a real system.

The PS2 MAT V2, and dont you have the MKII soundtrack on CD? Also, good luck finding that ultra rare Japanese SNES version, you know, with the green blood and black and white Fatality screens? lol

Also, I will be on the look out for the PS2 & Gamecube MAT V2 for ya. I already got you some green 360 cases ready.

And if you could, if you ever see another Japanese MKII for PS1 around, LEMME KNOW!!!! lol

Also, I can probably get you a brand new MK Kollection from my Gamestop, and I get 15% off. so let me know if you wanna do that. I think I might have to start "kollecting" again. The 3d era really turned me off of doing so. :/

Yeah I want that SNES version SO bad, but beyond going to Japan myself I think it'll be hard to find. I may have to con my friend who lives there into hunting down a copy for me.

I lost my MK2 soundtrack CD, so re-bidding on it. Or it was in my imagination that I owned it.

I think I got a good GC MAT V2 I'm bidding on now, but a PS2 one I could not find with a manual and case at the 3 GameStops I checked today. Also look for a MKDA for PS2 for me, I'd need that since it's not part of the Kollection set. I just scored MKDA for GC on eBay.

The PS2 Kollection I can get for $29.99 shipped via Amazon, so don't worry about that. I almost got it from CircuitCity but it was only 10% off which is tax alone.

Re: My MK2 Collection

Cool. I will keep an eye out for you. But lemme know about the MK Kollection. Either way. I gotta send you some stuff anyway lol ;)

Re: My MK2 Collection

No need for the MK Collection, I had free gift certs. for Amazon and that bought me that and PSP's Unchained. Keep an eye out for the Special Edition MKA for PS2 though, I'll need that for it's copy of UMK3.

I actually made up a chart in Excel to track ports. I've been an eBay nut recently and have grown the collection a bit.

Cool.

I plan on getting a tier list done for all the ports, lol

Re: My MK2 Collection

someone I know did a GREAT comparison already. We will actually be running this entire video next week, I've been accidentally putting it off as he covers all home console ports of all the games. Really well done.

is that vid avaible? i have alot of info/stuff for all versions of mk games (from mk1 to mkg) so i could help you with this vid.

as for saturn vs psx mk2 ports, the loading times in saturn are shorter than psx, but the gravity there is completely ****ed up. infact its so ****ed up that it changes the tier list. there is also no ending music for the stages, missing frames and the gameplay looks like arcade 2.1 revision. The PSX version had more frames, but some ****ed up gameplay factors as well (notice how hard is to perform the RH infinite there). The music for stages dont end when the round ends but continue playing (probably to skip the loading proccess). Cage is the ultimate zoner in this version after Mileena, because of the fast as hell recovery time from his projectiles. there are few other small things between the ports here and there but they both are not worth to play imo.

also you should know that the version from mk1&mk2 is completely the same as the original DOS version. they improved there only mk1 with arcade perfect soundtrack, but the gameplay is still like revision 3.0.

and another note that you may know is that there is a difference in the gameplay between (E) and (U) snes ports, where the (E) version is more broken and allows huge combos that are not possible in the (U) version.

Video is done, I'll post it up on Monday as a news item. But he's always looking for improvements.

So EU MK2 plays different? I may have to get an SNES adapter and buy a EU MK2 port. It must be due to the frame rate differences between PAL and NTSC that screwed up on the porting.

I just found a MK2 gameboy at a local pawn shop, and I also got most of the PS2 MK games now. And I just won an NES 2 on eBay too, I've gotta cut myself off from eBay. Enjoying the retro stuff way too much.

Re: My MK2 Collection

i doubt the reason is the frame rate, the gravity in (E) is just broken, it looks like buggy mkt for psx.

as for nes, there are two pirated mk2 games for it lol, i may still have the diskette for the first one somewhere :D

Re: My MK2 Collection

Yeah I had some of those hacked MK games for the NES too, I think I lost them. If you find them, I'll take them. I may try to find a way to load them onto a real NES. ;)

Re: My MK2 Collection

You missed The GB MK/MKII cart. MKII for Amiga is rare? I used to have it, think my mum threw it out. If she still has it at her house, it's yours for the cost of shipping.

Goraka that'd be great, I haven't seen MK2 on Amiga in a while. It's hard to find any of the PC/Amiga ports.

I didn't get the GB cart just yet, I may give up on not getting the box just yet for them and get the games.

I've been doing research, and I think the system speed is actually the problem.

You see on the SNES in the PAL region, they slow the system processor down from 60Hz to 50Hz. This was their easy solution for the PAL vs NTSC sync problem. This causes all games to slow down.

http://www.gamesx.com/importmod/snes5060.htm

Because MK is heavily coded based on frames per second, this causes the game to feel much different, and can cause things like gravity, etc to feel and act different on a PAL console. I bet if I got a PAL MK2 game, along with a Pro Action Replay to play on my SNES, it would play JUST like the US MK2 version. I'd have to get a PAL SNES along with a video converter to play it with the altered speed and graphics.

I could be wrong, as it's just a guess.

I may still pick one up if I can get my hands on it, I was already planning on getting a Pro Action Replay so I can get imported MK2 from Japan. I have a friend there who I may send on a mission to find me a copy.

Re: My MK2 Collection

interesting! but except speed the whole gravity is changed, i could be wrong of course and maybe it could be fixed. notice how n64 mkt pal is slower than ntsc, that is deff a speed issue, but for mk2 snes i dunno.

let me know if you have any progress with it ;]
