Future of MK

Sonic fox is just as big if not bigger of a troll than Boon is. I'm sure He's already playing MK12 behind the scenes but I wouldn't look too much into his ''predictions''. After the Suicide squad game got delayed again to 2024. I have this feeling in my gut that MK12 is in a similar situation. NRS would look really foolish to annouce MK12 and immediately turn around and delay it. I willing to bet the same Gaas shit that is in Rocksteadys game is also in MK12. I'm thinking NRS saw the backlash on that whole situation and got cold feet. It's obviously not a good look for their shareholders when your two biggest games previews become a laughing stock on social media resulting in them both being delayed. IMO the best we'll get is a tease of the game with little to no information. Whatever they do It's going to be a train wreck in slow motion.

Oh I see we are sharing brain cells here, cause I am getting the same feeling.
We all know that MK11 was a test. Multiple currencies? Shop with limited time items? Fooking CRAFTING? That's mobile type shit.
Then there is announcement of MULTIPLE MK projects.
Long ass support of MK: Mobile.
Then comes in MK: Onslaught.
All ingredients for the next MK game to be a live service game with mobile type shop, extensive crafting system and so forth.

Shit, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled Diablo: Immortal on people with MK12.

I wonder if we'll even get a previous gen version for MK12. And I hope they get some writers that pay attention to the old Tobias and Vogel stuff from the other Eras. I like Cetrion, but the whole Titans and Kharon stuff wasn't really that good.

Yeah, but the Suicide Squad game had a bad reception after they finally showed the gameplay. MK12 should be good.

Gameplay is subjective to the individual but a game built on predatory monetization isn't. That's why the Suicide squad game received the backlash it did. That and the fact it looked like a late 360 gen game IMO. I have no doubt MK12 will look amazing graphically. It's everything else I'm worried about...well worried Isn't the best word but more like expecting. It's no big secret that I wasn't the biggest fan of MK11 so keep that in mind.

Suicide Squad gameplay is basically just shoot purple blobs. While, it looked boring and generic, it was the gear system that really pissed off the people.

If MK12 does the same/similar gear system, graphics won't save it. People are tired of it. There is a real fatigue around it, so not even brand recognition will protect it. You can make the trailers and visuals look all fancy, but if you can't get the core mechanics right, that's it.

PS4 /Xbox One? I hope not.
Sorry, not sorry, but as it is I'm worried about it running fine on a PS5 and Series X|S, given that there are plenty of games this gen that have had issues when releasing.

I don't want any customisation gear systems back. It just leads to really generic constumes most of the time.
Eh. With proper devs, customization can be awesome. APB Reloaded still sets the standard in customization. And that was 2009 game.
But in this case... yeah NRS should stay away from that. They don't have a single creative bone in their bodies at this point.

Injustice 2 had a better customization system, imo.
Only thing I hated about Injustice 2 cosmetics was the garbage RNG-sus system, but otherwise it was cool to have different cosmetic pieces to mix and match and have your own creation.

I think the worst part about MK11 customisation was the amount of useless bloat. NRS really masturbated about tiny things like vials, that basically have 0 presence in gameplay. Then a ton of "skins" aka recolours aka pink sub-zero and cyan scorpion. A lot of masks were just the same model but with different materials.

Why the heck would they spend so much time and effort on this krap, instead of making custom costumes and gear for each character is beyond me. Yeah you won't have 69+ items per character, but "less is more", aka quality over quantity...

Yes, precisely.
Imo, if they have the Injustice 2 gear system but the MK11 method of unlocking stuff then we'd see a happy medium.
Sure, some skins and gear pieces were relegated to online only, but for the most part you could unlock lots of the gear pieces and skins in MK11 by playing the ToT with said character and not going "I hope that RNGsus gives me something for my main today."

Ah, I didn't even spend a single minute playing it by NRS rules... Just used an Unlocker. That's how I could see just how much bloat existed.

Online only RNG grind with MTX in a fighting game is not my cup of tea. Why they thought turning the Krypt into a slot machine (other than $$$)? Makes me think a mode like Deception Conquest would get the same treatment. Just RNG every chest and demand MTX for "+% to get this item in this chest!!!!".

I mean all things considered, they fucked the entire system in MK11. Its like it is trying have a mobile style grind system, but also don't. Stuck in the limbo basically.
Time Crystals can be gathered easily without buying them, but the shitty design of the shop with a timer, doesn't really motivate you to buy anything, as most of the stuff can be just simply unlocked, by doing specific towers. And even if unlocking them isn't an option (let's say classic female outfits), it ain't worth the hassle of waiting for when it will completely randomly appear in the shop, as that requires you to pay attention EVERY DAY, just so you don't miss it. Whoever thought of this economy is an idiot.

Max did a video recently talking about this very thing. I'm not going to link it (too lazy lol) but he basically says he's tired of NRS forcing endless hours of grinding in their games. Apparently the goal of major publishers nowadays like WB is to have gamers ''engaged'' with their products as long as possible because it looks good on a spread sheet to investors. He also says it's not necessarily to get people to spend more money but just to boost numbers...I'm guessing he's talking about viewer engagement similar to TV ratings. It sounds like YouTubes rules are carrying over to the gaming space. It's not just about how many people bought your game but how long do they play it. Long story short, It's basically a way to keep people hooked to their game like a drug addict all while ready to spend money on whatever NRS decides to add to MK12. AKA Mobile shit 101.

Yep. That's EXACTLY why they added gear grind, crafting system and even A.I battles. Just keep the game running, so corpos can show nice numbers for their fiscal year report.
Hence, the question is not IF MK12 will be a microtransaction filled grind fest, but HOW BAD it will be. I really , REALLY, want them to go all the way into live service module. That would be a glorious train wreck to watch.

Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if the next official reveal is for MK: Onslaught at this point.
Technically they haven't officially released it or given an actual date for it yet. 🤷‍♂️

Commander went online and chose violence.

Cheezus, that is some next level of evil, man. Imagine the hype! The tension! The excitement!

"The next big thing you guys have been waiting for!"

"OOOOOOOOOH... MORTAL KOMBAT ONSLAUGHT!!!"

"What the fuck?"

"Oh yeah, MK12 will be coming in like December or some shit, but MK ONSLAUGHT GUYS! Don't you have phones???"

I really doubt it would happen, but if it did. Next time you would see me online on this forum would be 2025-2026, as I would have to wait for Artemis-2 crew to get me back from the moon, due my sides sending me up there.

:ROFLMAO::LOL:

I mean, this is essentially what the 20th, 25th and 30th anniversaries have been so far.
A bunch of edging with no payoff. 🥒

I'm just trying to keep my expectations in check. Lol

Hey, is there a way to change this Thread's name? I would like to change "Future of MK" to "Death of MK".

I just saw SF6 showcase... I have NEVER seen in my life such one sided destruction. SF6 doesn't even need to do a fatality. That showcase was one huge overkill in itself.

That's it. Finito. Done. No matter what visuals MK12 will have, they won't even come close to the amount of content SF6 is throwing out. Holy shit. It is set.

I can't even joke about MK12, making some surprise reveal with insane amount of content to match SF6. MK12 is fucked. Completely and utterly fucked. And if they do live service shit with that game or gear grinding? That's it. Bah bye.

Watching SF6 showcase, was like being fed a big, fat, tasty meal and even if you are already telling them you're good, they JUST. KEEP. FUCKING. GOING.

HOLY SHIT.

Capcom has a lot to prove with street fighter 6 after the lukewarm release of SF5 which launched with little to no single player content. It's obvious they're making sure all the right boxes are checked this time around. NRS on the other hand are acting like a drunk rock star pissing away all the good will they once had. I hope that SF6 humbles NRS a bit and forces them to re evaluate things before it's too late.
