Who has played online? Is it really bad?

Seen bad reviews about online so far.

Seen someone already complain about there being lag online where it feels unplayable

Every match I've played with randoms online has had horrible, unplayable lag.

The lag is far from beeing as bad as in UFC but its there and you see it. Its not unplayable but if it wont get better or fixed I dont think that I will spend most of my time playing online

So much for NRS' amazing netcode...

Anyone here confirm this? Also, how does the region code work exactly? Are all randoms people from your country?

the lag is terrible holy shit, i havent lost a game yet, but i only played four. their servers better get fixed in the next few days or im going to be so pissed.

Don't worry, fellas. These guys will now patch things and fix their games, unlike their tenure with Midway. Every major release sucks online for the first week or so. It definitely will be fixed. I noticed some big time issues already, but once these geniuses who made this game get the data, it will be corrected. I was playing with a buddy online and the lag/host advantage screwed me out of a couple games. Regardless, it was great fun!

THE GAME IS AMAZING! The fighting engine is so deep, I feel like such a noob right now. But I gotta work my way up like in any game. Challenge Tower ftw. MK9 will be the best fighting game ever if they can correct these online issues to the best of their ability.

Hang in there guys. The lag WILL be there for at least a few days, this is how it is with a lot of titles; after all, it's incredibly high traffic and they need some time to adjust. In general, after the first week things go way smoother. I know it can be frustrating but there is a lot in the single player mode to explore!

This is why I don't go online right away with new games, I haven't gone online yet because I don't want a crappy experience and W/L record because of high online traffic.

When i got home with the game (in NY ) I played 60 fights with a friend online.(Shes in NC) out of those...2 fights had a tiny bit of lag and that was it. Near the end as well. However afterwards i tried to join a king of the hill game, which never connected, and also a ranked match with the same result. Definitely seems as if the servers are mixing regions up a bit id say, judging by posts around a few places. That will definitely be patchable i wouldnt worry too much just yet. PS3 btw.

I'm sure the servers will be overloaded for the next few days but remember that lag is a 2 way street. Some of these reports of lag could be on the users end as well. You need alot of free bandwidth to have the games run smooth. You can't have 15 torrents going at once and expect zero lag. Only time will tell.

it will get even more crwed online on the 21st cuz we in EU will also get the game!!!
damn we have to wait 2 more days -_-"

I played a few games last night with randoms and there was very little to zero lag on my games.

Xbox 360 here.

Varies fight to fight for me, I'm playing on PSN. One match its unbearably laggy then another it's almost like playing vs offline. If your worried about getting a few losses from it then I would steer clear until you hear about the servers being improved, if your super worried about your wins and losses that is!

I've only been disconnected once and that was playing with my cousin who has a screwy connection to begin with. I've played 60+ matches online so far and ran to little or no lag at all. I'm satisfied!

Of course this is why I planned on learning a lot of characters well enough to play online before I even looked at the online modes. There's more than enough to keep me occupied until it gets fixed.

This. I'll probably wait around 2 weeks to 1 month until I start playing online (Unless it's just with friends).
