Which MK Game Had the Most Immersive Story?

Armageddon should have never happened in the first place. It should have been a spin off game with all of the mini games and weird features.

Agreed, but unfortunately once Midway had made Armageddon, they put themselves in a corner.

Their next attempt was MKvsDC, and even though it wasn't that great MKvsDC wasn't horrible either.
I didn't like much of the actual story, per se, but I did like the character moves and specials.

Agreed, it could have been MK's Tekken Tag Tournament.

But looking back at it all, MK:D established most of the MK story, in terms of making it linear in my opinion, as well as closing any gaping holes left in the story prior to that game.

I hope I do not sound insane if I say that I like propably all the MK stories. I think MKD had the best, counting konquest, intro and endingsc, as well as chaacter developments and stuff. I was kind of impressed with MKA actually have a story and not be a kollection type of game. I think they should have left it as such though, kind of MK trilogy 2, if that makes any sence.
Except that I discovered that trilogy is not exactly non cannon, since characthers like cage have story.
I also liked MK3 - 4 - DA.
And mythologies. It's sad that the adventures diclined so much with SF and SM...

You don't sound insane, MK probably has the best story overall, slightly edging Tekken in my opinion in terms of fighting games.

The goal of Trilogy and Armageddon was to be more of a collection game, however, story was incorporated so it was good. I think NRS intentionally backed themselves into a corner with Armageddon because they wanted to reboot the series for next gen, until MK vs. DC was conceived.

You're probabl;y right. Armageddon was however kind of a let down, cause everything was building to something great through da and mkd, and armageddon did not deliver.

The MortalKombat story line overall is just pure genius. I'd have to classify MK:DA and MK:D within the same story. My favorite would be between MK:Gold or MK:DA/MK:D. The reason I would list MK:Gold is because after the point to MortalKombat (A tournament created to give earth a chance to defend it's self against Outworld) is over, Shao Kahn had been defeated and Outworld lost the last tournament chance they had to invade Earthrealm. Right when it all seems over, next thing you know a more powerful fallen god gets freed from the Netherrealm and Quan-Chi collaborates with him to take over multiple realms. C'mon, it's just golden, it keeps things going. As for MK:DA/MK:D I would list it being my favorite story of the MK's 3D era, because again, Quan-Chi forms an Alliance with Shang Tsung and keeps the threat (The storyline) going. Quan-Chi is truly an evil genius. It's a shame how they ripped his movelist off in the newst MK game. He wasn't as powerful as they make him out to be, IMO.

The story is one of the reasons I love Mortal Kombat. It's very unique, engaging, interesting and fun. It's great they managed to incorporate it into the series in such a way that it doesn't feel boring or generic, especially for a fighting game. I like the fact we're getting only pieces of the puzzle every now and then and 20 years later there's still a lot of stuff we don't know and can only speculate about. I can't wait to see what they'll do for X.

As for which game had the most immersive story?

I have to go with Mythologies.

Back it the day a Sub-Zero game was something I wanted really bad and when it actually happened I went nuts. I was really happy, even though I didn't manage to finish the game at the time since I was just 8 and it was very difficult and complex. I remember I managed to beat Fujin and then I gave up. However, I still enjoyed it and was totally immersed into it. It gave the character huge depth and gave me even more reason to love him. I loved exploring the world, which felt connected and totally different than what I was used to in the traditional MK games. I'm really glad they made the game in the end.

As for a traditional MK game and story...

Deception.

Konquest was epic. It felt really open and never ending. Totally unexpected and lovely. I liked doing all the quests and meeting various NPCs. It was enjoyable both on PS2 and PSP.

When I saw Sindel killing everyone, I thought she was kicking everyone's asses. It wasn't until I saw Jax get killed that I noticed she was killing everyone.

I really wish they had another way of dying instead of being killed off at once >.>
