What happened to online?

I've been playing online for about 5 months, and just yesterday I've found there's a severe lack of players. Normally there'll be two rooms with approx 100 people in them, and then a couple with around 60. However, now I'm lucky to find a room with more than 50 people in it.

Has anyone else noticed this? Why have people stopped playing all of a sudden?

On PS3, at least, the servers have been pretty unreliable lately. Rooms are made, then disappear, try refreshing the rooms a few times and some new ones may pop up.
