What do you think of the new Kai

Personally, I think they've americanized Kai in MK:A. His hairstyle and facial features are entirely different. He looks more like Darrius than Kai (Yet we know it's kai because he has the trademarked white arm markings). His outfit is very cool though, despite his crazy facial transformation.

ALSO, my friend thinks that Kai looks Asian in MK4 (I don't know where he gets that idea). I think he looks distinctly African. What do you people think?
 
i dont like corn rows....

i dont even know who this guy is really... so to me he just looks like a MK filler.... some radom dude that i could have created. Which makes him kind of lame. He doesnt really stand out, he looks norm.

and he does look asian in the before pic...
 
Agreed with Dis. Kai looks like a twist between Darrius and Jax. He looks alot more steroid-filled than in MK4. I'm going to have to go with the old Kai.

Wasn't Kai suppose to be the guy that replaced Liu Kang? It seemed like it in the Mk4 storyline.
 
Kai was suppose to have been the new Sholin Monk introduced in MK4.

In his ending he get told by Raiden he earnt the right to be a S. Monk anyway. However Kai declines saying he needs to do some soul search, Raiden gives him his staff saying one day it will led him to immortality. In the game, up to the point you complete his storyline, he uses... I think a club as a weapon. But after his ending he gets a staff.

Though this is I'm not sure of, because I don't use weapons and I only used Kai to complete the game with. After that I never used him again. If XP wasn't so against MS-DOS based games, I load up the PC verison and see if its true... :(

BTW I have no idea if I like the old or new verison. He is one of those characters I've never been decisive on whether I liked him or not. Though his new look doesn't look like he was indented to be a Sholin Monk like they said orginally.
 
Kai looks like a total badass, as for the character it will probably come down to the excecution, his fighting styles, his backstory, all i'm saying is don't prejudge, he wasn't given anything in MK4.
 
I never even liked the old Kai, so I couldn't say which one I think is better. I'm sure they both suck equally.
 
Well he wasnt much fun on 4 so I guess we'll have to wait and see if he's good on Armageddon. Hey, you never know.
 
Does anybody have a take on his ethnicity though? Because my friend is making this a big dispute and I say we need some community input to solve this.
 
I definately like the new Kai better, though he looks a bit like The Junkyard Dog with corn rows. :D As far as his playability, Kai sucked to me but, then again, so did everyone else in MK4.
 
I think finally Kai looks like a Capoeira fighter. (I´m from Brazil, I have background to say this.) Let´s see if they made him decently playable, too.
