It's boring for some people, but for many it is not. I always enjoy that mode in the game, it's a shame MK9 still doesn't have it. It'd good to do tournaments to see who's really top tier material in this game.

I remember doing it for Bloody Roar 2, I had a great time watching the computer fighting.
 
Why don't you just wait at the start screen? Go grab a snack or something and you'll watch two random characters fight. Theres no need to make a whole mode for it. Simply a waste of coding and disc/hard drive space.
 
LOL It is NOT the same thing waiting after the menu loading time for a random 30 second fight, between random characters, which doesn't even end. It barely takes a snack to watch those "fights".

I was making a point why theres no need to include CPU vs CPU in the game. Plus, I don't think it would be very good with tag-matches. You may never get to play. >.<
