The Modern Warfare 3 vs. Battlefield 3 thread.

I'll only be getting one of these games, but haven't fully decided yet :\

I've never played a Battlefield game, and have only owned the first Modern Warfare, which I loved, so I'm back in the mood for a good FPS :)

I'm leaning towards MW3 as I'm familiar with CoD and I'm really digging the whole World War III theme they got going on.

I've never played Battlefield though :\

which are you getting? :]

I'm not getting either but if anything definitely BF3.

MW3 is going to be the same game as MW2 but with similar new killstreaks, new maps, new guns.

Battlefield has vehicles, huge maps, great graphics, story, and more

Don't judge your opinion of cod4. After that game, call if duty crashed and burned.

My opinion: don't get either.

1. How do you know BF3 has a great story if you never even played the campaign yet?

2. I love how people specifically pick on MW3 for being "rehashed" (which it really isn't, but whatever), yet let games like Halo Reach go by the wayside and they don't even point out what they actually want to change...

Hyprocisy at its finest.

3. Why would MW3 need to be radically different from MW2, anyways? It's only the second sequel.

Err... Reach completely changed the gameplay of the halo franchise. Armor abilities, aim bloom, complete changes to movement capabilities, changes to vehicles and weapons, the space battle section... The list goes on. MW3 has some new guns, perks, and kill streaks. And most likely will still have broken and unbalanced multiplayer.

Im getting both so it doesnt bother me. I really hate how people compare these 2 games together..................Mw3 for fast fun paced action
Battlefield 3 for gorgeous graphics bigger maps realism.

I cant wait for both. But since battlefield is out first. ROLL ON FRIDAY :D

Halo Reach is originality to the max. You can't compare another FPS to Halo Reach so it can do whatever it wants but MW has competition and a lot of it. I want changes. Not similar overpowered killstreaks that make the game easy for a 5 year old.

Why was GTA3 so radically different from GTA2?
There's ALWAYS room for much change. Not just putting a stupid little RC car in their next game or perks like One Man Army that ruined the game.

"Hahahaha I noob toob infinite! Make game so easy! HAHAHA THANKS INFINITY WARD!"

>_>

100% correct. Thank you Toxic.

Look, guys, you all are correct for the most part (except for the unbalanced multiplayer part).

I'm just tired of having to defend CoD from everyone...

I don't consider Treyarch's series part of CoD at all.

I only count Infinity Ward's games.

Treyarch games are a disgrace to CoD and exactly why CoD has a bad rep as of now.

Anyways, MW2's main problem was just the noob tubing and overall reliance on killstreaks (quickscoping wasn't bad at all, it's just that people overused it).

Both of those have been fixed for MW3.

Even that game will have its stuff for people to exploit.

That goes for any online multiplayer, not just CoD.

And not all change is good, BTW. I didn't like the changes at all in Halo: Reach's multiplayer (mainly the armor abilities). Single player was badass, though.

Sometimes it's best to stick what you know, especially in CoD's case.

I hate WaW and Blops with a fiery passion.

But, anyways, BF3 will probably be kickass, but I've heard a lot of stuff about the beta that's making me weary of purchasing it.

This thread was a buzzkill :[

I'm still undecided, but the jets in BF3 look so kickass....Might have to go with that...

i played the beta of bf2 i mean bf3 it felt just the same but i was in a jet being cheap instead of a helicopter being cheap but they have those as well but cod is the same as well

^^ Smartest post in this thread

But ladies, lets not fight.

My friend, THIS, is the fps you have been waiting for

Well, that does look interesting.

As for me, I'm going with MW3, mainly for the fact that I've only played Black Ops, mainly zombies these days. Battlefield looks good, but I do want to try an Infinity Ward CoD before switching series. Also, I did play the Beta for BF3. For the most part, it was good, but I wasn't used to it.

First and foremost, BF3 had a beta. A BETA. Before anyone starts with the whole "it's 3 weeks before launch" argument, just stop. Stress tests on the servers. 'nuff said

The main reason people aren't going to be buying MW3 is because it's the 4th yearly update in a row. However since you haven't played a single one of these updates, the difference would be noticable(to an extent that is).

As far as campaigns go, you're a fool for buying either of the two for the single player modes. MW is just a michael bay film, while BF3 is just 24:The Game.

The real question here is this: Do you play as a lone-wolf, just killing everything in sight? Or do you enjoy playing as a team and playing the objectives? No matter how pretty you think BF is, not matter how many vehicles, destruction, and "balance" you think there is, it means nothing if you play as a lone wolf. If you play as a lone wolf in any BF game, YOU WILL NOT HAVE FUN.

Take from that what you will.

Good poast. I didn't even know PS3 had a BF3 beta, I would've tried it out :\

Yeah I haven't played CoD since the first MW, so I'm sure a lot of what many would consider "the same" won't apply to me too much. I refuse to buy games when publishers are just milking the series (it's what singlehandedly got me out of sports games [God forbid they keep the same game and we just by DLC roster updates, at least for a year]).

But it's been a few years now and I'm back in the mood for a new FPS. And CoD and Mw3 being so similar there's no way I'll buy them both. The reviews hitting Monday for BF3 should help with my decision.

I know what to expect with CoD, but BF3 could go either way.
