The Grudge

I just got back from seeing The Grudge and wanted to see what you guys who saw it thought about it. I found it a little bit freaky at points, but I'm really picky with horror movies, so that's good in my book. Very well done, I'll give it a thumbs up as a good horror flick.

I'm going to have to see if the original Japanese version is any better or not. Heard it may be a bit more freaky for the Japanese audiences who scare different than US audiences.

I've heard good things abot this movie as well. I'm a pretty hard person to freak out or scare easily, so I'm looking forward to catching this one within the next few days to see if it lives up to the hype. I have to admit, though, that the little meowing kid in the commercials they have been playing continuously has kind of sent a chill down my spine, so things are looking good.

The japanese believe in more malicious poltergeists than we Americans do. We always play them up as if they can be communicated and reasoned with. The japanese portray them more in a "Shining" type of way, where it doesn't matter if they can hear you or not, they are still looking to kill your ass. That rules.

Definately a thumbs up movie. I'd give somthing away if I said why, but the main ghost was pretty scary for me and that little boy running around as well. What really scared me was the entire scene with the sister, very freaky, I'll never feel quite as safe all wrapped up again....

As far as the plot goes, I think The Ring did a better job of explaining it, and when you do get the entire story its almost confusing and doesn't follow its own rules much, but to be honset, you only have about 30 seconds to think about in the course of the movie before shit goes down.

All in all, much more satisfying than The Ring, and scarier as well, and very njoyable if you don't mind a plot hole or two.

okay one question... i saw the movie... it was okay not horrible like the village but not as good as texas chainsaw (new or old) or dawn of the dead (in my opinion of scariness) but they are making a sequal that wraps everything up right... cause not everything was explained

Just saw it last night and it is definetely one of the better horror movies to come out the last couple years. Not gory and not "shit your pants scary" but it will certainly make you jump in your seat a few times. Looks like they left it open for a sequel I guess???

I heard it was better than the movie I saw last night, Saw, which totally kicked ass. I have to see this, then!

We actually originally went to see Saw but the next 3 showings were already sold out, so we saw The Grudge instead. Very strange, I didn't think the movie had created that much of a pre-release buzz, but it is defintely next on my list!

the grudge was good at making you jump. the story line was alright and the acting was so so, but it was definatly a good horror flick, i mean which ones actually have good acting! but eitherway it was good and sequil or no it will still be good. but like the ring, i dont know how good a sequil will compare to the origional (japanese or american)

The Grudge was a good movie. The part where the spirit was in the blanket with the lady was crazy.

the little meowing kid is the only reason i want to see the movie

I thought it was a very good horror movie, the best ive seen this year. everyone says it didnt explain itself very well, but i thought it was explained just fine, only thing that it didnt show is if there is any way to beat the ghosts or not. It reminded me alot of the ring, especially with the ghost movements and the portrayal of them.

i saw that movie last night. if it wasn't for sleeping meds, i wouldn't have slept last night. i was the one who was screaming and making everyone else scream but i also have a a good reason but i cant share..

Am I the only one who doesn't fucking care?

On topic, I have the impression that this is like the Ring; shitty. The Japanese version is probably better.

I think I almost broke my brother's hand by squeezing it so tight. And we were going back to the house with his friend and were all going to sleep in his room until we remembered that his room has the access to the attic. Um, no. I was thoroughly freaked out so we all went to sleep together on the floor in the family room.

I haven't seen the US version yet, so I can't really have an opinion on that.
But I'm sure it doesn't beat the Japanese ones.
Ju-on: The Grudge is awesome but kind of weird (confusing?), but after you've seen Ju-on: The Grudge 2 it all becomes very clear.

Kakashi and Dark Water are also nice Japanese horror films which I liked.

There aren't that many horror films I like, but sometimes a few tend to pop out which does attract my attention.
