Story Mode Predictions - Who? Why? How?

Kinda brought this up in the Roster Speculation Thread, but im gonna get into it more here...

Someone said Kano should Rape Sonya. 1st of Very Bad Horrible BAD taste of an idea. MK is dark but no where near that dark of a game.

With that said, i think it would be an interesting twist IF after Cassie was born Kano, steals her and raises her as his own. In the beginning she bad but usually bumps heads with Kano but does whats asked of her. Over time the truth is revealed that her parents are Earthrealm Heroes Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. She winds up joining the Forces of Light and is out to get Kano for his deception.

I think this could be a good sub plot to the main story...who knows...what do you think?

No because that would mean that the story, or a chunk of it, would.revolve around Johnny Sonya Kano and Cassie and I think they should focus on other characters

Which is why I'm thinking that they will be playable, outside of story mode.

That, and Ed also said that some characters would have variations based off of their "older" versions.

General
1 - Shinnok is betrayed by Quan Chi
2 - Kotal is (in a way) betrayed by D'Vorah
3 - Kotal and D'Vorah are/were a couple/married.

9 - Most of the story takes place in Outworld (60%), Earthrealm (30%), Netherrealm (7%), Edenia (3%)

Most people keep assuming that Kotal will kill Mileena or they will some how be enemies in the story. But I just thought of a new theory since im confident Kitana will be in the game (I am sure she will have some involvement in Mileenas fall)

My assumption is that Mileena is instantly the empress of outworld after Shao Khans death. Quan chi then resurrects and controls Kitana in order to some how take Mileena off the throne, and since they are technically "twins" (minus the crazy teeth) Kitana could pose as Mileena and cause some sort of trickery. This would then allow Shinnock to take over some way or another with the help of Quan Chi, and Kotal comes in later on.

It was mentioned that there will be more than one ruler, but I am not entirely sure how each ruler will be taken down.

It was mentioned that some of the NEW characters are characters that tried to take over at some point in the story (like Kotal Kahn), but I don't recall Ed specifically saying or implying that some of the returning characters would also try to take over.

If he did, then Liu Kang would have easily been the #1 contender in people's minds for taking over, given that the popular opinion among lots of people is that Liu Kang comes back evil.

I just wanted to bump this thread again. Someones theory i agree with earlier mentioned.

Mk4 takes place but raiden beats shinnok and quan chi betrays him. But can someone clarify what was the need of quan.chi helping shinnok where shinnok has nothing to his name? Am i forgetting something?

Deadly alliance - quan chi pears up with liu kang as s tsung was killed, corrupting kangs mind to.go against his friends.

Deception - onaga comes back bcuz of shinjinko and when he is about to get killed shinnok helps him just like he.did in original timeline?

Could this be likely? Where does kotal fit in all this?

Ed Boon said that they are not going to repeat story lines. Ed Boon mention that we will see similar things from MK4 - MKA in the new timeline but they are not going to play exactly the same. The events of MK4 will happen but it will be different then it was in the original timeline. With Liu Kang gone for now, I think Raiden will end up beating Shinnok and sending him back to the Netherrealm. Gods in the MK universe can't seem to die unless you erase them for good since Raiden was able to regenerated his body after blowing his body into pieces similar to Cell from DBZ after creating a blast similar to a mini nuke at the end of MKDA to stop Onaga. So I don't think Shinnok will be killed off for good.

Just to clarify as i dont kno anything lol...i assume whoever dies in earthrealm or outworld...they would go to netherealm correct?

Yeah ed said that but it would be slightly different which is why i think most likely liu kang will pair up with quan chi

I think it'll be like the Terminator franchise. Terminator 2 didn't prevent judgement day, it just delayed it. In other words, new timeline just delays Armageddon

Exactly, similar things happened in mk9 from original but only slight differences in some ways.

Now im thinkin quan chi doesnt betray shinnok, shinnok lives slightly longer than he previously did but gets beating by raiden. I still think onaga comes back...cant wait to see his new design

Shinnok survived armageddon, could Shinnok have sent back visions to himself like Raiden did? Also, they say that the MK4 Shinnok is a clone of the real Shinnok that got killed during armageddon. Does this also mean that Shinnok knows that Quan Chi gave him a fake amulet in the new timeline...

With the Kano/Cassie idea, that wouldn't happen. Kano has no interest in children, quite clearly. I don't think he'd burden himself by raising a baby. Like, really? You think he could raise a child?

It was a rumor I heard a while back right after the first gameplay reveals. It was in this forum but I can't remember where. It seems plausible even if its just a rumor.

Plausible how? Shinnok was the ruler of the Netherrealm and I don't believe there's been anything about Kotal Kahn going anywhere near there...certainly not in the origins story, at least.

Well I must defend Kano! While you are correct, Sonya has defeated Kano in the majority of their encounters, but she does not outright beat him! Its usually a last minute attack bc Kano lets his guard down to gloat. At least thats how I imagine it LMAO!!!

Oh, how strange. I base it on the actual games that these two characters derive from with canon storylines!? How absurd!

You have no idea how stupid you just sounded. But if you need me to go into more detail I will. Sonya clearly is substantially more intelligent than Kano has, was or ever will be, she has better training (lieutenant in Special Forces) and she's also much faster. Sure, he may have more raw strength, but raw strength doesn't win fights and never really has.

And no, Reptile does stand a chance against Johnny. Johnny defeating him in ONE game is far different than Sonya defeating Kano in almost every single game & a movie. If you don't believe me, and the obvious proof isn't enough, go ask Ed on Twitter, he'll have the same answer as I did.

And the reason she hasn't 'outright defeated him' is because Sonya isn't a murderer. She'd be the type that'd want to arrest him.
