SPOILERS: Hail CSZ

You insult YSZ by useing the butthurt excuse? That's pathetic and immature. Are you even an Old School MK Fan or are you one of the New Generation ones that wasen't around when YSZ was Great and not a lame Cyborg forever gimped from being a Hero was again? Though yes, many will leave eitherway. Newer fans that weren't around for YSZ wont know why they lost Mister Uninspired Predator if that happens or YSZ fans will leave after the blantant character assassination that none of the other characters were forced to take.

It's just like after Liu Kang died and Boon lost many fans and each game thereafter went downhill as he scrambled to try and change stuff that didn't need to be changed. In the end he reached the tipping point with Armageddon and MK vs DC Universe where he lost many MK Fans that had got him to where he is today.

Not all change is good, especially unneeded change.

Though apparantly Boon still hasen't learned that.

Quite a hypocrite about the immature thing, eh? Oh well, the term fits you immature or not.

Sub is actually my favorite character and has been since mk1. Even beat the hell out of Mythologies, so what's your point? Old MK fans have to follow you and your opinion? Sorry, but I'm open minded and will wait to make my final decision on CSZ, though I'm leaning towards hoping he stays canon from the leaks.

So really, that just makes you a hypocrite since a person that was open minded would understand both views instead of hurling insults at the other they don't support.

a) I never denounced YSZ's fans (even said he was my favorite since MK1)
b) I said "leaning" due to the information provided by the leaks (which already established in this thread; you haven't read), so I can form an opinion on such matter, but not final judgement
c) I'm not sure you even know what the word "hypocrite" means...
d) Only thing I said about you was "foolish" because what you said was beyond foolish
e) You put yourself in the category of butthurt in your first response (by putting words in my mouth saying ALL YSZ fans were), so I responded to you as such.

I tried explaining the myriad of possibilities in a calm way, but your arrogance is getting ridiculous.

You don't like CSZ. Okay that's fine. But you can't assume that a lot of people will leave because of it, because, quite honestly, a lot of people on here like the idea.

Second... all the insults towards Boon, saying that he hasn't learned from his mistakes and this stuff. You're acting like an ungrateful little child. If he's had so many "mistakes" then why is Mortal Kombat a multi billion dollar franchise?

I honestly tried to be calm, but you are acting completely arrogant and speaking for a bunch of people that you are assuming will not like CSZ, when the majority of people actually don't mind the change... including Sub-Zero fans.

This! Im tired of it too! You say Boon's making a big mistake but...hello! This whole game is to make up for his and NRS mistakes with the past few games which were not that bad either but this game is to make up for it and make something awsome for the fans

Its really irrtating me that you keep say we! I am a Sub-Zero fan and there are plenty others that have no problem with this you need to start speaking for yourself like everybody else does on this board and stop say 'all of us' and 'we' you are stating 'your' opinions, not 'everyone' elses

LOL. You have to remember that calling this change 'unneeded' is your opinion, not a fact.

You don't represent any majority or minority of MK fans, you only represent your own opinion. Your opinion about what is wrong or right about MK isn't exactly anyone else's. MK fans have a huge range of opinions. As others have said, some change or 'updates' are always needed to new games in any series or else most would complain that developers are releasing the same game every year for $60.

Boon can not (nor any other developer) listen to every fan's wishes and make a game that satisfies every fan, and you're in no position to teach Boon anything about what should or shouldn't be in the game. Some will always hate 1 change, while others will hate another. And then others will hate that another change never happened.

As for CSZ, some fans hate it, some fans love it. If you're this passionate about something as useless as a change in a video game character, then I hope you're even more passionate about REAL problems in the world.

What we do know from the leaks is that CSZ is exactly like Smoke/Cyrax, lacks character, depth, looks like a Predator wannabe, and is just generally a worse idea than Zombie Liu Kang ever was. This was clear and blantant Character Assasination and I hope Boon gets ever bit of Backlash he deserves for ruining YSZ with his lame Plot Twist and inability to write a decent story.

Making YSZ into the next terrible Zombie Liu Kang is a mistake and Boon doing this exact same thing shows that he hasen't learned anything at all. By MK10 he'll be quick to pretend that this whole CSZ thing was just a bad dream. When that happen MK can start going down the road that made it great before they made Armageddon. MK vs DC Universe, and MK9.

You see again you are completely ignoring all of us!! He is not exactly like smoke/Cyrax you are completely overreacting and should go back and do some re-reading and research.

You are bringing up the exact same points over and over and over without addressing our rebuttals that we have been giving you countless times now.

YSZ is proven and works.

CSZ is an unwanted and untested waters that was never asked for. He will fail after MK fans get the game and see what Boon has done to their character which was making him Smoke/Cyrax instead of just improveing on YSZ. It'll cause more outrage than when they murdered Liu Kang and than continiued to character assassinate him after DA and tempted fans with non-canon endings for their own personal amusement.

So you are saying that the fact that they are having this CSZ is automatically lowering MK9 to MK vs DC and Armageddon and that Ed Boon is hating on Sub-Zero for some reason? Mmkay.

Last time I checked, an "idea" was subjective. And how can you say Smoke/Cyrax/CSZ in this game lack character or depth when we haven't even played the game yet. If you want, just forget about how terrible MK9's "story" is and stick to playing normal Sub in Versus mode etc.

This post basically is a summary of your (flawed) points so far. I suggest you read some of the above arguments and try to take on board what they are saying.

False. There were many topics speculating and wanting CSZ for the longest time on the board before it was leaked. Some people seemed to like the idea of it, others didn't.

I mean, I'm a TRUE MK fan and a gamer at heart. Sometimes though you just have to put your love for it aside and look at what you're saying. All of this nonsense with insulting Boon and saying that you will leave MK if this continues. Also, you completely ignore every argument that any other member has contributed with! You're acting like a five year old who doesn't get his ice cream just because he wants it. And... In that case, Boon being your stupid dad who won't give it to you.

I guess what I'm sayin' is that I don't believe you... AT ALL. You will buy and play this game, and the next one, and the next one. If you're a true MK fan, that is ;)

A lot of fans on this board were saying that they would like to see YSZ become automated since MK9 was announced. And since its already been leaked here and on the MK wiki that he will be automated, I have yet to see fans burn effigies of Boon calling for blood.
Yeah if your fav character gets changed to the point of nonrecognition, say if a certain gray ninja becomes a purple robot and then a f'ing cloud it sucks, but its not the end of the world. Of course I'm not comparing human Smoke's popularity to that of YSZ, but the tables have turned and its a bit of poetic justice.
And if-if this does turn out to be the greatest disaster since the maiden voyage of the Titanic, then w/e they can just make him human in MK10. Nothing is ever really cannon, when beating mk3 and mku3 Smoke became human again, and then in MKt it was changed to human smoke just being a memory. Cyber-sub could just be a dream or YSZ could just get his human body back, or split into two beings, or there could be a 3rd brother, w/e its not like anything is impossible in a fictional world.

With the way you have been in this topic, let me just say this; if you don't want to buy the game because one character gets changed, I beleive Ed Boon has already adressed you in an interview "That's just stupid, if someone is saying 'Oh, I'm not going to buy this game because of one character', you won't be missed."

I can't even see YSZ in that unwanted abomination. He simply isn't there anymore. It's like Boon murdered YSZ himself than dragged his corpse to the Cyborg plant to make him into a 3rd rate character instead of one of the most popular ones in the MK Series. I hope this 'test' fails and Boon realizes that you 'never' try to fix what wasen't broken.

Cyber Smoke was broken story wise. He needed a fix.

YSZ wasen't broken and didn't need a fix just like Liu Kang. Instead Boon messed up and made him into the next unwanted Zombie Liu Kang.
