Nothing extremely hardcore, lol....
I know it varies from state to state, but, I'm really looking to become a police officer around Columbus, Ohio. I'm taking a lot of care in which academy I want to go to. Right now there's a school that offers a 7 month program that is OPOTA certified (meaning I can be a police officer anywhere in Ohio) and it's been heralded as pretty good by my own local police department here in Toledo Ohio. I've got all the brains for this kind of job, and I'm really trying to work out lol...
I'm doing about 1 mile jogs every day, and 30 push ups and 30 sit ups. I know, 'easy' to most of you, but not as much for me. I used to be in the Army National Guard and boot camp was hell for me lol... but after I got out of the Guard, I pretty much stopped all exercising. So, working out is a task. I'm pretty proud that I am doing 30 sit ups, 30 push ups and 1 mile jogs to get me started. I plan on doing that until the end of September, then, in October, I plan on hiring a personal trainer to get me into a great routine, and then the next month I'll keep that routine up by myself, and then after that, I'll enlist an academy where I'll be better prepared to take on the PT tests.
Again, the book work seems like that will be the easy part for me.
I'm pretty excited... I'm 27 years old and, well, after much thought, I really think this is a career I'd like to persue! So if any of you out there have any experience in the law enforcement and what going through school was like, I'd love to hear all aspects of it.
Thanks!
